GlossyBox, Boudoir Prive and GlossyBox!

by Lina on October 17, 2011

My October box of GlossyBox arrived today..  As it’s their six month anniversary they decided to make the box extra special, and I can concur that every single item in it is very special indeed (including the extra bonus one!)! One of the best boxes received so far. What’s inside..
Dermalogica Age Smart MultiVitamin Thermofoliant
Dermalogica Age Smart MultiVitamin Power Recover Masque
Leighton Denny Expert Nails in Babydoll
Stila  Smudge Stick Waterproof eyeliner in Moray
Robert Piguet EDP in Calypso, Fracas and Visa
Dermalogica Age Smart Renewal Lip Complex (with beauty bag)

Dermalogica has always been a brand I’ve wanted to try properly so I was really happy with the bits from there, all the skincare products are exactly what I would use and perfect for my skin type so that was really well matched. I’ve also never used a Leighton Denny varnish before but have heard about them plenty so eager to try that out as well. And of course, how can you go wrong with a liner from Stila? In a fab colour too. Superb box.

When this box arrived, I realised I actually hadn’t got round to writing about my September boxes from GlossyBox and Boudoir Prive, so thought I’d include them in this post as well.

Let’s start with Boudoir Prive..What’s inside..
Zoya Professional Laquer in Marina
Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment (for hair)
Cargo Boogie Night Eye Pencil in Black
Tropic Body Smooth Refreshing Polish
Colbert Nourish Eye Cream
Mai Couture Blot & Bronze
Agent Provocateur L’Agent

When Boudoir Prive first launched, I had heard that in concept they were similar to GlossyBox (even packaging was practically the same as well as subscription pricing), but in market completely different. It appeared the Boudoir Prive boxes were aimed at a slightly older, higher end more luxury market – less ‘high street’.. I can only judge from the one box I’ve received and I honestly don’t see that much difference in brand prestige. Initially, I was much more excited about that month’s GlossyBox than this box, but after having a proper look through they have both got some really good, well thought out products included.

You do get a few more bits than with GlossyBox, but I tend to feel a bit more bang with my buck with the full size products in GlossyBox.

And to finish off my comparative post on the September boxes, here is my GlossyBox one! What’s inside..
HD Brows Eye&Brow Palette in Vamp
Nuxe Dry Oil
Plum EDP by Mary Greenwell
Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm
Rahua Shampoo & Conditioner

So what September box do you think has the edge? And what are your thoughts on the special October GlossyBox??

  1. I received September’s & October’s Glossyboxes. Last month’s was better than this one’s. The perfumes smelled like something was decomposing their smell was so potent, the packaging of the other products smelled like it too. The Leighton Denny nail varnish is something I’m looking forward to trying (plus, it’s full size), like the Dermalogica things. Because I have medium/dark Asian skin, the stila eyeliner didn’t stand out as much as I hop[ed it would. Due to the fact that last month’s was about 3/5 and this month’s was 1.5/5, I am switching to Boudoir Prive to see if they have something better to offer.
