Bobble Hat & Fascinator..

I bought this bobble hat from H&M yesterday.. I got caught in the rain whilst running around to various press shows (check out Uniqlo‘s and Bershka’s Spring Summer collections) so had to make an emergency purchase to protect the barnet. Emergency purchases are never as enjoyable as leisurely, ‘not really allowed it’ ones, I certainly don’t get the same shopping high.I’m quite pleased with this purchase though as I had been after a bobble hat for ages, but couldn’t find any that suited my petite pois sized head. Luckily this one, which was the first (and only!) one I tried on looked okay so I bought it.  Would have been nice to have spent time trying on different ones in other places and really choosing one, but heigh ho. I really like the soft, furry bobble, I think it gives the thick knit grungey-ness a touch of luxury.

At one of the events yesterday (a Unilever Hair Team event, they were showcasing their new portfolio which includes Toni & Guy, Andrew Collinge, V05, Dove, TRESemme and the soon to undergo a major image upheaval, Timotei), we had the option to make our own fascinators! Milliner Judy Bentinck showed us how, offering help when needed (I needed it quite a lot).

Here’s my creation.I made a widow’s veil one! I’m so channelling Joan Collins, Dynasty era, here. Here’s an amusing video we took at the time, myself and Rebecca from Le Salon de Beaute, after completing out fascinators.. (Laura from So Far, So Chic makes a cameo near the end).

Really like my widow’s veil! I love the idea that technically I made it myself, although really Judy Bentinck did it all; I was pretty useless and just offered silly suggestions that I genuinely thought were useful (like using a staple gun instead of sewing). Judy also teaches classes so if you’re interested check out her website www.judybentinck.com.

Do you like my new head things? Secretly hoping someone dies so I can wear my widow’s veil appropriately (jooooke, of course!).
