Nails of the Day: Orly You’re Blushing

by Lina on April 15, 2012

From their Cool Romance Spring collection, You’re Blushing is a lovely muted lilac creme by Orly. It’s an interesting colour actually, as in some lights it looks like your standard griege, but in brighter lights the lilac really pops out making it perfect for Spring; a muted pastel that adapts to the ever changing in-between weather! The quality of Orly nail varnishes are great, I’ve applied three coats here, I could have easily gotten away with two but I smudged them a little so thought a third would even it out. And that’s the only thing I can fault about Orly, whilst they are a dream to apply, last ages on even without topcoat (I’ve gotten up to two weeks before!), it does take a little while for the colour to dry so risk of smudging, etc, is quite plausible whilst waiting.. Other than that, brilliant varnishes and very reasonably priced! The entire Cool Romance collection..
Left to right: You’re Blushing, Prelude to a Kiss, Jealous, Much?, Faint of Heart, Steel Your Heart and Artificial Sweetener.

Which is your favourite?

I almost bought Jealous, Much?, but went for Gumdrop (which is a drop darker), which is from a couple of collections ago. Knowing me, though, I’ll probably still pick up Jealous, Much? because I like the color (and make it polish 101 or 102. I’ve lost count again of my polishes! I have a fair few.)

Have you tried OPI’s Kiss Me on My Tulips or A Roll in the Hague? I know OPI’s are expensive where you live, but when I see those two when I go to Ulta, I think of you as they’re bright and remind me of all the floral dresses you wear. The former is a bright, blue-based dark pink and the latter is a bright Holland orange (they’re both from the current Holland collection, hence the names!)

    • Aww, that’s so sweet that they remind you of me and my floral dresses – I do love a floral dress! Will definitely check them out, they sound gorgeous! x

I find a lot of things that say, “Gee, that reminds me of [insert name here.]” There was a turquoise that screamed Tali (from the Gloss Goss), but then I remembered she doesn’t wear turquoise nail polish! Ha ha ha! Those two remind me of you though.

I actually brought home Kiss Me on My Tulips because I liked the color too much. I grabbed four others from that collection and EIGHT (yes, eight!!!) of the Hunger Games collection from China Glaze. Don’t ask me if I’ve worn them all yet. I haven’t! I have a backlog! Yikes!

  2. I use Orly’s topcoat, Sec’n'Dry, and it dries the polish in a few minutes. It’s completely touch-proof in that time, doesn’t cause shrinkage (like Seche Vite) and makes even atrocious Nails Inc. polishes last 5+ days without chipping. Other polishes last over a week without chipping.

I am really enjoying the theme/design of your site. Do you ever run into
any browser compatibility problems? A few of my blog audience have complained about
my blog not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Firefox.

Do you have any solutions to help fix this problem?
