GLOSSYBOX AUGUST

by Lina on August 14, 2012

Another fantastic box from GlossyBox*! This month’s theme is Global Heros (something to do with the Olympics, perhaps??), with an assortment of cult products from all over the world!

What’s inside..
Alesandro Pro White
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-On Manicure
Vera Valenti L’ombre a Paupiere Margarita (Eyeshadow Palette)
Lipcote
GlossyBox Lipstick in Glossy Pink

I actually squealed with delight when I saw the DHC Cleansing Oil as I’ve been dying to try that for ages! The other products are pretty good; whilst I wouldn’t ordinarily pick that particular Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure design, it’s not something that I’d completely refuse to wear either. Again with the Alesandro Pro White nail brightener, not a product I have much use for as my nails are always painted colourfully so any discoloured natural nails are well hidden(!), but I can imagine this being a popular product for other subscribers. Other than these two products, I can see myself using everything else – although admittedly maybe slightly less of the green shades in the Vera Valenti eyeshadow palette (I actually thought it was a colour corrective concealer palette when I first opened the box?!)! The browns on the other hand look very universally wearable.

Another box where I feel I haven’t been fobbed off with filler products! Lots of make-up and full sizes that combined far outweigh the cost of the box (just the way I like it!), and a really relevant skincare product for my skincare needs.

What do you think of this month’s GlossyBox?

I like the idea of the lipstick but not too sure about everything else.

I’ve heard so many different reviews on cleansing oils but I’m a bit anxious to use them on my face as I might just feel very greasy (moisturised but greasy)

I’m honestly not sure what I think about the eyeshadow palette as the shades do not look pigmented enough to show up on dark skin like mine

    • With the cleansing oil I would always use another face wash afterwards. I haven’t tried the eyeshadow palette yet but you might be right with the poor pigmentation for darker skins..

I just received my box a minute ago, and I’m very happy with everything in it! I’ve already tried out the lipstick and lipcote (very tingly!) and I’m excited to try the rest. I love the eyeshadow, because I have green eyes so I like to accentuate them with green eyeshadows. I’m also excited to try out the cleansing oil :)
