MY ULTIMATE CLINIQUE PRODUCTS

by Lina on August 7, 2012

One of the best things about blogging is that it has really opened my eyes to brands I may have been dismissive about in the past. If someone told me even as little as five years ago that I would be enthusing about this brand to the point of writing my ultimates products list on them, I would have found it very hard to believe. But it’s true. I’m very, very fussy with my make-up and make a big point about not writing and raving about everything; I really have to like and use something well first. But if your stuff is good, I’ll take notice. And that’s how I feel about so many of Clinique’s products.

Here’s a quick summary of my favourite ‘ultimate’ Clinique products and why I love them..Even Better Concealer
I don’t know about you, but when I get a spot it tends to lead to a horrible black scar that lasts for months. The type of discoloured scar that no amount of make-up seems to cover. Well, if you also suffer from this or just uneven skintone or hyper-pigmentation, I urge you try this concealer. I pat in a slightly lighter shade than my skin tone under my eyes, around my nose, under my chin (areas usually discoloured from redness or darkness), and then a perfectly matched shade for the rest of my face — providing it needs the coverage. It is AMAZING. One of the products that really conceals, and is so lightweight! That is what I love most about it. When you start getting pesky lines around your eyes you’ll discover that make-up has a tendency to settle in those places. It is uber annoying and I’m forever blending it in again. However this concealer never settles into my lines nor goes cakey. It is literally the lightest, fullest coverage concealer I have ever come across!

Clinique Quickliner Intense
Man, I go on about this product a lot on here. It is really great though. When I first tried it it was simply a limited edition product and thus was only available for a short while. I loved it so much that I literally went from store to store buying them all out, as I couldn’t bear to go without it. Thankfully it is now in the regular range so you don’t need to panic buy like I did! It is just a lovely, creamy, intense pencil eyeliner that really glides beautifully over the waterline and sets in place remarkably. If perfect eyeliner, especially on the waterline, is your thing, you should give it a shot. Read full review here..

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara
Weird considering I never even wore mascara on my bottom lashes prior trying this, however after using I am now a convert! I don’t wear it all the time (hell, I don’t even wear mascara on my top lashes all the time! I’m big into the no mascara trend at the mo), but when I do it really adds something to my look. I’ve spotted many ladies who paint both their top and bottom lashes with mascara, and regrettably noticed that often their lower lashes are clumpy, stuck together, have smudged or have that dehydrated, spidery look. All of that is completely avoidable with this product! The tiny brush makes it a gem with getting really in there with those littluns and it cleverly only distributes the right amount of product, so you never have huge blobs of mascara on the lashes or worse, cakey, over mascaraed, dried-out lashes. Perfect subtle definition and separation – for your lower lashes! Read full review here..

Clinique Superfine Liner for Brows
Another slightly odd inclusion considering I have quite thick brows, but this product is ace for those who like their brows razor sharp thin, and rely on pencilling them in everyday. Whilst I definitely don’t do that, I always get my brows threaded ‘outwards’, in a bid to lengthen them or otherwise they go too down and make my face look long (#beautyobsessedgirlproblems). I usually have to powder or pencil in the rest of the length, to help with the illusion of having a nice, long eyebrow. However, often with powders, whilst they are a God send for general brow grooming, on raw, un-haired skin which you want to disguise as part of your natural brow they don’t work as well, which is when this sharp liner comes in really handy. I can get that extra pigmented line, added to my natural brow, effortlessly. Most pencils are too creamy or blunt, but this one is nice and sharp, perfectly pigmented and waxy.

Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturiser
I’m a big fan of tinted moisturisers. In fact, most of my foundations tend to wear like a really good tinted moisturiser. Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturiser is great because it has a good mix of pigment and hydration — just because it’s meant as a tinted product doesn’t mean you should go without the coverage! I could easily wear this as my main face product, and feel like I haven’t sacrificed much in terms of coverage and finish. If you’re in to dewy, healthy, illuminated radiant skin, this will do it! Plus, having dry skin it really helps keep it moisturised, although I do always wear a separate moisturiser prior — doesn’t everyone with tinted moisturisers?

The Near Misses….
Well, there’s only one that I can think of that didn’t quite make it in that list, and that is only because it’s been discontinued!!! WHY???!!!! But anyway, it’s happened, I need to get over it. The product I’m ranting about is the Clinique Almost Bronzer in Light. It was just a gorgeous golden bronzer that melted onto the skin and never looked streaky. Really gorgeous stuff. Oh well.

What are your favourite Clinique products?  Tried any of the above?
