I actually reviewed the Olay Professional range ages ago, upon its release when I had attempted to trial it. I think I only used it for a month but had to stop as my skin just wasn’t taking to it. However I decided to give the Olay Professional Age Defying Moisturiser SPF 30 another shot and bizarrely, this time have reaped much better results!
I think the main difference between my using the range now and using it then was my inability to be flexible with it; I have super dry skin and I need an intensely hydrating moisturiser or my skin dries out. My skin, whilst outwardly appearing clear and healthy, is prone to Eczema and therefore cannot retain moisture as easily as others. So when I first used the range, I wanted it to be a fair trial so stuck to strictly only using the Olay Professional range, despite feeling it wasn’t hydrating enough. Understandably my skin fell to pieces and wrote that in my review..
But now, since trying the Olay Professional Age Defying Moisturiser SPF 30*, the day moisturiser, I have garnered MUCH BETTER results. Because this time I’d use the moisturiser and then follow it with Doublebase – a basic moisturising gel available in chemists recommended for severely dry skin to keep it hydrated – on top. What this allows me to do is get all the beneficial ingredients of the Olay Professional day lotion, with the extra needed moisture from the Doublebase.
RESULTS
I’ve been using the Olay Professional lotion for three months now, and genuinely feel I have seen improvements in fine lines and wrinkles. Admittedly my ‘wrinkles’ aren’t probably real wrinkles yet, but for the fine lines and areas I have spotted wrinkles forming, particularly in-between the brows, the ‘frown line’, have greatly reduced since starting this product.
Other areas such as around my mouth, and a little around my eyes, have also noticeably improved. When I use it, my skin feels instantly plump and radiant, and with the added extra moisture from my Doublebase, it feels hydrated all day. Plus, it has SPF 30! I’m still on the fence with how well protected our skin is with products that have added SPF, as I think you need to use a great deal more than most people would ordinarily use to get that specific SPF benefit, however at least it’s a start and is better than nothing!
So my view is this moisturiser, and the Olay Professional range in general, does work in reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. I have seen definitive improvements (as has my mum, who has also used this product!). However as it only comes in one formula, it’s not hydrating enough for drier skins, so just do what I did and top up with another hydrating moisturiser! The Doublebase one I use is really, really good for dry skin, by the way! I use it all over face and body, and have done for years!
