FEBSHOEARY

I thought I’d do a little write up about this as I have the utmost respect for this gal; Fashion Blogger Madison Hughes is culling all pairs of shoes bar one from her extensive collection to wear solely (pardon the pun!) for the month of February, rebranding the month as FEBSHOEARY. The shoe she will be doing her three hour daily trek to work, Zumba class, bike riding and sledding (I didn’t know what that was either..)? A pair of  four and a half inch killer heels!

WHY, you ask? It’s estimated that 300 million children worldwide don’t have a pair of adequate shoes. And 1.4 billion people worldwide suffer from diseases that could be prevented if they had suitable shoes. Yet in 2010, 790,000 tons of footwear and apparel ended up in landfill. So to bring awareness and help tackle this problem, Madison is setting herself the challenge of doing absolutely every conceivable activity in her sky scrapper heels, for the entirety of February! Documenting her journey and no doubt struggle along the way via her daily online dairy www.febshoeary.com, she will hopefully be encouraging some donations for this worthwhile cause; for every £1 raised equating to one pair of shoes bought.

I’ve had a think about this campaign and I honestly don’t think I could do what Madison will be.. I decided, despite the fact it probably won’t be as apt for the specific cause, I’d probably (and somewhat happily) settle on wearing my favourite evening dress, something uber fancy, every day instead. Admittedly, not really as impractical and traumatic as wearing a wear a pair of killer heels all day, but I’d imagine definitely very awkward.
