GlossyBox February!

It’s that time again! Here’s the contents of my GlossyBox this month..Duwop Venom Gloss in Buttercup
Impress Press-on Manicure in Rock It
Awapuhi by Paul Mitchell Wild Ginger Treatment Oil
BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow
Como Shambhala Invigorate Shower Gel

My GlossyBox actually only arrived yesterday so I haven’t really had a chance to properly play around with the products (I only got round to opening it today!). But from what I’ve seen so far we only have one full sized product (the Impress Press-on Manicure) and the rest sample sizes. BUT the sample sized products are pretty decent – two beauty products in pretty much half sized to full size.

I’m really excited to try the Impress Press-on Manicure set, as I’ve never tried stick-on nails and see lots of people with them on and they often look great. Despite not being a lipgloss girl, I am happy to get the Duwop Venom Gloss – am wearing it now and it smells lovely! The colour is pretty clear on me, but it’s flattering and I think it’s doing some plumping (hard to tell at present)! The Awapuhi by Paul Mitchell Wild Ginger Treatment Oil is probably my next favourite product after the nails, as my hair is always so parched so different types of treatment oils to try are always welcome!

Pssst! The NEXT GlossyBox is meant to be extra special, I have no idea what is in it, but that’s all I know!

Let me know what you get you got in your GlossyBox!

London Fashion Week AW12 – Backstage at Jean-Pierre Braganza!

Inspiration for hair was taken from Patsy of Absolutely Fabulous – you heard it here!

GHD hair stylists backcombed and twisted hair up in french-rolls adding jaggedly cut clip-on fringes, AOFM make-up artists kept skin fresh but flawless and lips deep and red, whilst Jessica manicurists painted nails nude..To create the lips a combination of OCC Lip Tars were used, and a pale pink OCC Lip Tar was also used on the cheeks!Jessica ‘Naked As A Jaybird’ polish..The finished look, on the catwalk (photo credit: www.alexloves.com).

Flatform shoes and the blues..

I’m a bit down today because the limited availability in my shoe size is really getting to me. I bought two pairs in time for Fashion Week (which the mere mutter of the term right now is making me shudder from all the stress it’s given me) in the smallest sizes available, and, well, basically, they’re both unsuitable and I have no idea what I’m going to wear now.I’m mostly really gutted about this pair, a pair of suede (effect) flatforms from ASOS. I had seen another blogger wearing a leather pair and they looked great, really comfy and quirky. I knew ordering shoes that aren’t ‘strapped in’ from ASOS would be a long shot as ASOS  shoes are quite roomy, but I was trying to think positive. I had envisioned them looking amazing with jeans and also cute dresses with tights.Anyhow, they arrived, and looking exactly as I had hoped.. But still too large in the smallest size they came in. There’s no way I could get away with it, they kept slipping off the heels of my feet every step I took. I attempted to fill them out with cotton wool, and whilst initially it worked, when I went back to try it on later they had become lose and slippy-off again. So I returned them. Sent them back the same day they arrived. :(

I didn’t want to. I really, REALLY liked them but knew if I tried to talk myself into keeping them by thinking I’d pad them out, etc. what would happen is that the padding out inevitably wouldn’t work and I’d have yet another pair of shoes I’d never wear because they’re too big.The second pair of shoes which arrived today are these wedge trainers. I delusionally thought they looked comfy when I saw them online, so ordered them with extortionate express shipping charges (£20!) to get them in time for FW (can’t even bring myself to say the words anymore).

Not really impressed with them. And they’re uncomfortable. Oh well. FML.

Liv Tyler music video and more Liv stalkyness

I am a little bit lesbehonest for Liv Tyler, it all started after watching her in the Aerosmith videos back in the nineties and hasn’t really stopped since. I kinda want to BE her, in the least crazy stalker way possible.. So whilst checking out her new ad campaign with Givenchy where she pretty much records a song and makes a music video (above, INXS cover, I Need You Tonight – which in my opinion is probably one of the least fun songs I’d ever want to cover, I’d pick something more waily and fun to sing like Kelly Clarkson’ Since You Been Gone), I stumbled across a bunch of other make-up promotional tutorial videos on the Givenchy YouTube channel.. Starring her!

Maybe you’ve already seen them and I’m really slow off the mark in discovering this, but if not and you also get excited by the thought of watching Liv getting her make-up done, have a gander at this..

She’s so annoyingly beautiful. There’s a few more on the Givenchy YouTube channel, so if you liked this you know where to head to for more..

Fashion Week Prep..

As tempting as it is to bring absolutely everything I could possibly need with me to London Fashion Week (I’ll be mostly reporting from backstage so expect lots of tweets, vids and pics of the behind-the-scenes action!!), I am only a small girl and need to remember that I will be lugging this all around with me all day. So after careful consideration, here is what will be in my Fashion Week Bag.As you can see, I’ve got my Samsung camera, Flip video camera, Blackberry Playbook, as well as some sort of note book/organiser (I’ve got two pictured; a pocket Filofax and Filofax Flex – will probably go with the Flex as it’s better for writing) and a couple of pens, business cards, tissues, make-up(!), hand cream (Paula’s Choice Age Resist), moisturiser in case my skin gets parched (Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser), lip balm (Rodial Glam Balm Lips), some hair clips, and lastly some plasters – just in case!

I’ll also throw in some headache tablets, water, mints, phone, purse, keys, and my Blackberry Playbook charger which is a super charger that charges my Blackberry phone in record time!Hoping the Blackberry Playbook will be really useful during this time, enabling me to bring the action to you, very soon after it happens! Fashion Week will definitely give it a good testing of its full capability, at the very least. Here’s what will be in my on-the-go Fashion Week Make-up Bag!  As I’m backstage and not really amongst the glamour, I’m gonna keep it simple with a bronze smokey eye and pink lip and cheek – I really do not want to be fussing over my appearance once there. This travel size Benefit Posietint I got free with Glamour aaages ago is perfect for compact on-the-go wear and doubles up nicely for lips and cheeks. Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup foundation is FAB as a touch up product, on top of whatever you’re already wearing. Rodial Glam Balm Lips is a balm that works amazingly as a nourishing gloss, so I can just keep myself topped up with that all day on top of my lip stain.

The other bits are: Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, Clinique Airbrush Concealer, Estee Lauder Double Stay-in-Place Gel Eyeliner, Barbara Daly Make-up Long Wear Eyeshadow (in Bronze Gold) and Clinique Almost Bronzer. I might throw in a  bright lippy (my lippy of choice at the moment is Sleek Pout Paint in Pinkini) so I can transition from day to eve effortlessly.

Check back tomorrow to see what my Fashion Week fashion will be so far (IF all the pieces I’ve ordered ever arrive!)..

So what do you think, have I missed any essentials out??
