Disco Pants Debacle

XXS American Apparel Disco Pants arrived and.. They fit like a glove. To recap, I bought an XS during the bank holiday weekend online, decided a day later that maybe I should get an XXS just in case as everyone kept saying to size down (clearly the panic of one who had too much extra free time to over-think it set in), the XS small arrived on Friday, they fit fine, no struggle at all to put on so figured they’d be the ones I’d keep so wore them out.. But the XXS arrived today and they fit PERFECTLY. Everything about the them, the way they actually flatter me now, fit nice and tight around the leg, the leg length, EVERYTHING. The larger pair really started to stretch and sag pretty much as soon as I wore them, they were sooooo long on me, and just kept growing, the leg length on this pair is defintely petite-r..

Argghhhhh. FML. Guess I’m gonna have to sell the first pair on eBay now or something seeing as I’ve worn them..I bought a couple of loose crop tops from there as well which arrived with this order, they are pretty baggy being a one size job but I like ‘em. Although admittedly I do feel like an extra in Fame when I wear them together with the whole American Apparel ensemble.

So the moral of the story:  If you’re also one of the trillion debating disco pant sizing; I can’t stress it enough, SIZE DOWN.

You looked like me on Sunday

I never simply post a picture of my face and say that’s it. But it is, today. These are some quick snaps I took last night when I was getting ready to leave the house, I haven’t worn a black smoky eye for ages, nor curled my hair for that matter! For a good chunk of my late teens/early twenties I lived in smoky black eye make-up, dewy skin, pink babydoll (cream) cheeks and soft pink lips. Pretty much this look here. I’m using Benefit Posietint on my cheeks and lips which I’ve rediscovered (as of yesterday) and love, gives gorgeous, shiny, fresh, pink cheeks. I think I’ve rediscovered this whole look again, actually..

I watched Young Adult also last night, great film, gonna try and squeeze in a second watch although it was a bit like looking in the mirror, worryingly and somewhat uncomfortably. I also ate ten slices of pizza and lost a brand new American Apparel top that I haven’t even worn yet. On the upside, this post about nothing has been quite fun to write. Really. Maybe I should start a diary..

Oh, and I’ve been listening to this song on repeat.

Happy Sunday.

YSL La Laque Couture!

Two brand spanking new YSL nail shades have just landed on my doorstep (okay, it was two days ago, but still, very new!) , Rose Futuriste* and Beige Leger*..  Which do you like best? They are both from the freshly released La Laque Couture range, a collection of 30 ‘lacquers’ in timeless new shades in celebration of their Couture legacy. I have to say, personally I’m a fan of the Beige Leger more as it’s just the most beautiful mink nude, am besotted with this colour! But both are gorgeous and a dream to apply – definitely recommend a top coat though to stop that chipping, although one is included in the 30 piece collection, so there you go!

Have a gander and a little drool over the rest of the collection below..Divine, no?

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit

One of the things I think Bobbi Brown excel in is their bases, having used their Skin foundation on and off for years (genuinely one of my favourite foundations ever, great for Summer), their Creamy Concealer Kit has also made its way into my ‘best of’ list! If you watched my last video (and first ever make-up tutorial!), you may have even spotted my stating so, which is why I thought I’d write about it in a little more detail today..Essentially it’s kit made of two separate best selling Bobbi Brown products; their Creamy Concealer and Sheer Finish Pressed Powder. Together, they become the concealing dream team! None cloggy, smooth application that delivers great coverage which best of all, once set in place with the powder, doesn’t budge!

I’m not a big fan of thick, cakey make-up, I like my skin to look healthy and dewy. Unfortunately however, healthy and dewy foundations seldom provide decent coverage! So this Creamy Concealer Kit is pretty much a God send in making my skin flawless and even (which is my main use for concealer), whilst still keeping it fresh and light. Honestly, you just need the tiniest amount (a little goes a long way!) and you’ll get the most outstanding coverage. Set it with the powder it comes with, and your complexion is set and budge proof for the rest of the day! I love the handy small size as it’s perfect for on the go, plus the powder part doubles up nicely as a general all-over powder, making it even more handbag friendly. To see how it wears and applies, check out my video HERE.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit is priced £23.50 available from www.harrod.com.

Don’t call me a skank but I bought hot pants on eBay…

So, uh, yeah. Pretty much what the title suggests. I genuinely tried to find a new pair but after searching eight different H&M’s to no avail, I spotted this pair in my size going on eBay for a whole £2 more than their recommeded retail price. Yes, they have been worn, which isn’t ideal (apparently just the once though), but I’ve washed and disinfected them so hopefully all chances of catching crabs or whatever sickness you can catch from sharing shorts will be diminished (seriously almost made myself throw up just writing/thinking that. Yuck). However I am so happy to have them in possession, I seriously wanted a pair and when I want something I literally go mad with desperation for it. I think I’m an awkward in-between size (6-8, got an eight) so these gape around the waist quite a bit but fit the hips fine, I guess nothing a belt can’t fix though. Goes without saying that they will always, always, always be worn over tights! Teamed it here with my stars and stripes cropped vest from Topshop and River Island red wedge trainers (yes, them again. When will I shut up about them, huh?).

P.S. Isn’t that random flower by the shovel really cute? Have no idea why it has been plucked out but it is oh so adorable.. :)

A place for my jewellery..

Something that I’m really distressed about is losing my beloved Lina name necklace a few weeks ago, you may have noticed that I wear it pretty often in my pictures and videos. I have no idea whether I’ve lost it out and about, or whether it’s simply hiding somewhere in my room. This is actually very typical for me. I keep telling myself that whilst I don’t have a lot of jewellery, I tend to wear the same timeless bits constantly, the few pieces I do have I need to keep in a special place so I don’t end up losing the odd thing. Something like.. a jewellery box! This Poetique Box Set from Fashion for Home would make a lovely one for me, with its worn down, shabby-chic finish. It would easily house all my favourite pieces and all I’d need to do is just lift the lid and throw them in, no faffing around with arranging it on hooks or anything – just my style.

Since discovering this jewellery box I’ve also noticed Fashion for Home in general have the most exquisite, whimsical furniture and home accessories (pieces to die for in the Poetique section!), which I’ve learnt they offer at an incredibly discounted price because they are strictly an e-shop and only make the item once it’s been bought, cutting down on storage cost. So if you are looking for the odd trinket box or perfectly crafted table, I’d definitely recommend a look.. www.fashionforhome.co.uk.

Eek! My first make-up tutorial (kinda)..

So you know how I’m always rabbiting on about how much I love the YSL Glossy Stain in Violet Edition? Weeeell, considering I’ve been pretty much living in it here is a little video I made showing how I wear it (and with which other make-up trends!)..

I’m rocking the no mascara, strong brows and glossy vamp pout for this video. Be kind please, ’tis my first proper tutorial type thingy! I know it’s a bit annoying that the top of my head crops out of the video most of the time – will make sure it doesn’t happen for the next one!All the products featured in the vid..The YSL Glossy Stain really is the ultimate lip product for a strong, statement lip. Great pigment, outstanding lasting power and so easy to apply – you can get such a well defined, power lip with zero need for lipliner, just apply it straight from the wand! It also miraculously doesn’t smudge all over your face despite being so glossy, you know how when some of your hair gets caught in your lippy and you end up with a massive hair line mark of colour across your cheek? That. This doesn’t do that.. Ever!

Some pics of it on, one from today and one from, er, before today.Isn’t it just the most beautiful colour?

So ya, that was my first tute! :D
