Barbara Daly Long Wear Eyeshadow

I’ve only tried a few products from exclusive to Tescos’ brand Barbara Daly Makeup, but so far I’ve loved each and every one – these eye shadow sticks being no exception! They are brilliantly pigmented (but still easy to control), and best of all they LAST. Nothing will get these bad boys off other than make-up remover. The three colours I’ve tried here are Shell, Black Marble and Bronze Gold.

There is a trick to using them, build up the colour slowly, blending as you go (and you must be quick as they set super quick!), and keep an eye on how far you’re blending out as once they’ve set, there really is no wiping off without actual make-up remover! Having said that, once they’ve set they wear and last beautifully. I’ve been a total skank in the past and on my journey home the next day (from the night before) my friend has even asked if I’ve freshly applied my eye shadow as it has stayed perfectly in place!I am all over the Bronze Gold at the moment, using the Shell to high light on the inside corner and brow bone (the Shell is so gorgeous and sparkly!). It’s great for creating a multi-dimensional bronze smoky eye quickly and easily. I sometimes darken the colour up by using a little black splashed on the outside corner (as I have here using Black Marble – the grey/black shade of the three), but the look is pretty much singly-handedly created using these two other shades.

I’m feeling pretty bunged up and generally bleurgh at the moment so it’s really hard to summon up the energy to enthuse properly over these fab eye shadow sticks, but honestly, they are brilliant. I’ve recently tried an eye shadow stick of a far more premium brand (we’re talking  four times the price of these ones) and from the one shade I’ve used of theirs I definitely prefer these sticks. I simply found no difference in quality, and much better pigment in the Barbara Daly ones.

I don’t have an actual price for these, but I assume they’re around the £5 mark, judging by the prices of the rest of the range. If you’re lucky enough to have a Tesco’s that stocks Barbara Daly Makeup, head there, if not try Tesco Direct (although I’ve had a quick check just now and these eye shadow sticks don’t appear to be in stock, boo). Keep looking out for them though – they are 100% worth it. I will definitely be picking up every different shade that I can lay my hands on!

The Bluest Eyes in Texas..

Those who read my post on the Autumn launches of Estee Lauder, would probably have noticed how I instantly fell in love with their eye shadow duo in Clouds – a gorgoeus, vibrant navy. I created a quick blue eye with it on that post but thought I’d run through the rest of the products I used, as a few of them are also new and worked really well with the look.

It is essentially the two products from Estee Lauder, the duo in Clouds and the liquid liner in Graphite. The Graphite liquid liner has quite a stiff nib, but this is great for getting really precise lining, and worked really well in particular with the blue. When used to line, it provided just a shot of shimmer that catches the light wonderfully, in a neat, clean way. The staying power of it is amazing, too! Maybe a little too amazing; that swatch on my hand refuses to budge even after several hand washes and some washing up! Try and avoid getting it on your lashes though as it can get a little cakey on those hairs (not nice for adding mascara onto after).

To finish off the look I used some of this new bd by Barbara Daly Eye Liner Polish in Dramatic Black, which one would suspect was a gel, but in actuality I think it’s more a cake. You have to work the brush into it a bit more than you would with a gel, but the inky black effect you get from it is just the same!

I am really adoring this pot liner at the moment, it’s cheap (around the £4 mark), isn’t messy, will last you a life time and easy to apply; it just glides on. I’ve only worn it a few times so far but I really like the staying power and noticed very minimal running or smudging, only the slightest bit of crumbling but that was tested in extreme partying conditions (we’re talking waking up with it on!). A big contender for the pricier brands!

I received some brushes from KIM a week or so ago, a foundation brush, a lip brush and this eye brush;  E131. As you can see, I’ve used the eye brush to apply this liner and it works beautifully! Really easy to get a straight line and you can even re-use it several hours later without washing – could be a combination of the pot liner and brush but either way it worked fine and didn’t go stiff with product like many other brushes would.

Finally, I just finished off the ‘blue eye’ look with mascara!
Loving all these products at the minute, really good quality.
