Ciaté Colour SMASH in Black

Ciaté’s foray into the crackle polish, what do you think?Ever since the launch of nails wraps and magnetic nails I personally am all over (as in, bored now) of crackle. However out of the two types of crackle I’ve tried, the second being this (the first was Barry M’s), Ciaté version is definitely the stronger contender. The crackle, or Smash, as Ciaté call it, is really light once it dries and very easy to apply. For me, the trick was a nice thick layer, two swipes (one left, one right, meeting in the middle) and then a second wait before the polish separates like thiiiiis. I like the matte texture so I skip top coat.

FYI, I’ve teamed it here with Ciaté Gold Digga which I think accompanies it really well. Please excuse all my gross stubby [too] short nails! I had a breaker that was almost a bleeder and the rest had to go. Was no saving it!

Back to the polish.. If crackle is your thing, this is a much better version than the high street Barry M ones. However it is far pricier, double the price at £9, but you are paying for the quality and it really shows. Despite in general not enjoying the crackle effect so much anymore, I think this one is very wearable without looking garish and actually rather pretty. I think it also quite suits my short, stubby nails. :)

Also available in White and Silver.

What are you guys thinkin’?

Ciate Paint Pot in Fun Fair

SNB13891x

I do love Ciaté nail varnishes, great formula and the most adorable bottles! So naturally I was thrilled to receive one of their new shades for SS10. Of the 6 new shades, Fun Fair (the one pictured) and Headliner (a vivid turquoise) instantly stood out as the yummiest shades, but unfortch Headliner was out of stock so I’m only displaying Fun Fair today… And here is how it looks on!

SNB13915x

SNB13921x

Very pretty. In the picture (and in the bottle) it looks more lilac than it does in real life, but in actuality it almost verges on a baby pink.

As with all Ciaté Paint Pots, two coats is really all that is needed (I often add a third for luck) and as it dries super speedily to a glossy finish you can totally skip the top coat. I always do with these.

Here is the rest of the SS10 collection..

Ciaté Paint Pot – Superficial

I while back I received some lovely Ciaté nail varnishes in their pick of this seasons shades of green. Alongside Mojito, a gorgeous lime green which I absolutely loved (find the review HERE) I also received this darker, more wintery bottle green shade called Superficial. For regular readers of my blog, you all know how Ciaté is probably my favourite nail varnish brand out there, their quality and product consistency is everything I look for in a good nail varnish so I think it’s fair to say we are really just showcasing the colour here!

Application & Verdict
What I’m increasingly noticing with Ciaté varnishes is that 2-3 coats, sometimes even 4 is best. As each coat is so thin it really helps build up nice, even colour intensity without being thick and rubbery, you actually get an amazing shine to them that an overcoat just ruins! Once on (I let it dry mostly before each new coat), it only takes about ten minutes to fully dry and then you can confidently be out the door without a worry of ruining your manicure! Being great quality this varnish also stays put for a loooong time before your nails start to look noticeable shabby – I can get away with a week, sometimes longer but I really enjoy doing my nails and them looking freshly done so seldom leave it that long!

I personally am not really into dark nail varnish shades, despite them being most suitable for this colder time of year (I actually requested the apple green shade Stiletto, not this one but I think they were out of samples of that so sent me this). It’s not that I don’t think darker shades look pretty, I do but just not on myself; I feel it doesn’t really do anything for my skin tone. But nonetheless a great nail varnish for those who do prefer a darker, season apt look for their talons during these oh so cold, blistery nights.

Ciaté Paint Pot in Mojito!

Follow my blog with bloglovin

Oh, how in love I am with this Mojito Paint Pot from Ciaté! The most beautiful, milky lime green – definitely no last season fluoro! And all packaged up in the beautiful Ciaté way with a little black bow on the bottle! Gorgeoussss!

Application
Generally I apply two coats but with this particular Ciaté one I actually did four, and this allowed me to get a really even, deep coverage of colour with no streaks. Being Ciaté each coat dried pretty quick and once set (20 mins from start to finish?) they are SET. So you don’t have to worry about those annoying little dents or smudges long after having applied them. I also skip a topcoat when wearing these nail varnishes as they set to such a beautiful, rock hard super glossy finish naturally a topcoat would just ruin it!

Shoulda really slapped some handcream on first, sorry! Compulsive hand washer here!

Verdict
Well, as you can guess I’m pretty much in love! Gotta hand it to Ciaté for once again introducing me to another gorgeous nail varnish shade I simply now cannot live without. Best of all, I’m pretty certain I can rock this manicure for another 5 days before the chip sets in. Gorgeous colour, great nail varnish! You can currently pick Ciaté up from ASOS.

Ciaté Paint Pot – ‘Ghetto Fabulous’

For those that can remember my review on Ciaté Paint Pots in Snatch (a gorgeous ruby red) they would have discovered that I was head over heels in love with it. Unfortunately though, Ciaté Paint Pot in Ghetto Fabulous wasn’t as big of a love.

As with all gorgeous Ciaté Paint Pots, it comes in a beautiful traditional glass nail varnish pot, with a black plastic lid with an adorable little bow made of tiny ribbon, it really does look utterly beautiful, definitely one to have out on display on the dressing table.

Application
For all nail varnish reviews, I only ever apply a basecoat and then the product; I never apply a top coat. Although usually a topcoat is recommended, there are times us gals don’t have the time to give ourselves a full manicure so it’s important to know what will keep up with our fast pace in those such circumstances.

The first coat of this varnish was a little disappointing, very pale and streaky. I soon realised I would be needing a few more coats than the obligatory standard two to get the desired effect. Three, four coats down the line and I’ve got a fairly good depth of colour, however it’s not an inky, jet black black that I had hoped for, it just ever so slightly came a little short in my opinion. For evening it is fine, gorgeous even, but for daytime I felt it just wasn’t deep enough.

The good thing about all Ciaté Paint Pots is that they take absolutely no time to set, and this was no exception. I had done my nails, waited ten minutes and they were fully dry by then. They are relatively glossy, and it’s certainly more than passable but as it is a black I would ideally use a good shiny top coat on top to get a really dramatic effect. Without a topcoat you could wear this varnish on your nails for about three to fours days before the chip noticeably sets in, but again with a good topcoat it will last a great deal longer, I imagine two weeks.

So in conclusion, although I LOVED Ciaté Paint Pots in Snatch, Ghetto Fabulous just wasn’t AS perfect for me colour wise. I can imagine for many this is more than fine for them, but I really wanted an intense, dark, inky black. A shame really because everything else about it is excellent, dries fast, quite glossy and fairly durable; however I like my black nails to be a tiny little bit deeper and darker..

Ciaté Beach Feet

Despite being in rainy England, I do like to acknowledge our so-called Summer by donning some pretty strappy sandals to wear out and about; this season it’s all about the cage and gladiator styles. Whatever your choice of sandal wear, horrible dry hard feet with parched heels is a definite no no!

Let me introduce you to Ciaté Beach Feet.. A foaming footsoak that is designed for the D.I.Y. pedicure!

Application
Ciaté Beach Feet comes in a big glass jar, with a strong, air tight lid attached. The product itself is pale yellow tiny powdery flakes. You simply take two heaped tablespoons into a large bowl (or foot spa) filled with warm water, and let your tootsies chillax in it for ten minutes.

Immediately after adding the product, the water pleasantly fizzed and reassured me that something was happening. After the ten minutes were up I dried my feet with a soft towel, and began to remove the dead skin with a foot file. What this product claims to do is soften the dead skin on your feet, thus enabling quick removal of dead skin whilst also leaving the remainder of your foot in great condition. The range also includes a foot scrub and various other products to use in conjuction with this, but I’m pretty sure any foot scrub or file should do the trick adequately.

Verdict
I got on really well with this product. It did soften the dry areas, and removing any hard skin after was a breeze. What I noticed most about it was how it left my feet silky smooth a long while after, and I’m sure despite my recent slackness with the home pedicures once I get back into my weekly routine (which I will as it’s ‘Summer’!) my feet will be in excellent condition in only a couple more uses! I’m actually looking at my feet now, a few days after I’ve tried this product, and they are looking pretty smooth, no sign of dry, hard skin anywhere so really one more pedicure will get them back into the pristine condition that meets my high standards (touchably soft!)!

One tub of this should last you a good couple of months if you choose to do it weekly, a lot longer if you choose to do it less frequent like once every few weeks, so it’s good value. I will update if I’ve discovered some more observations after a few more uses, so fear not! But so far, I’m liking this..

Ciaté Paint Pot – ‘Snatch’

Ciaté is a new brand to me, I’ve never tried any of their products before but from my understanding they are in the same price and quality league as OPI, Jessica, Nails Inc, etc. At the very least I was expecting a good quality, durable nail varnish – so I am very happy to report that not only have my expectations been reached but furthermore, they have been superseded!

The first thing I noticed about this varnish was the adorable packaging, it comes in a regular traditional nail varnish pot, glass pot, black lid/handle, but the detail that makes it truly stand out is the gorgeous little bow at the front made from tiny ribbon. I actually gushed when I saw it, it immediately made me want to chuck all my other nail varnishes in the bin and only display these gorgeous Ciaté ones from that moment on (and I genuinely think a lot of you will feel the same)!

The shade I am reviewing here is ‘Snatch’ from ‘The Reds’ collection. It’s a true, bright red.

Application
When applying nail varnish I usually use a base coat and a top coat, and that is the way Ciaté and most other brands would advise as well. However for reviews sake I only applied a base coat (as the red would stain my nails otherwise) for many of us gals that don’t have time for a full manicure. It’s good to know whether you can depend on something when time is not on your side.

The brush to this varnish is reassuringly good; it’s not a rubbish, fiddly, awkward brush. I even suspect it fans out a little so it covers a large part of your nail per stroke, thus enabling you to get perfect application pronto. I managed to apply this to all my fingers in about one minute flat, with minimal accidental over paint. It then literally dried in about 30 seconds, ready for the next coat. I applied (and advise) two coats in total.

Verdict
I have to admit, this may well be my new favourite nail varnish brand! The colour is a gorgeous orangy-ruby red (very on trend!), a shade that would pretty much suit all skin tones in a quirky, Hollywood glamour screen siren way (think Gwen Stefani in ‘Don’t Speak’). The consistency of the varnish is thin, therefore dries incredibly quick, but you still get an amaazing depth of colour. It reminds me of Nails Inc varnishes (consistency wise), but better, as with Nails Inc you need several layers, takes longer to dry and even then it chips soooo quickly.

My nails looked super glossy and shiny without a topcoat. I pretty much started doing stuff within ten minutes of applying it and it didn’t smudge one bit, it had miraculously fully set. I honestly have never had this with the other brands I mentioned above, and most of all, those brands didn’t even look anywhere near decent until I threw on a good glossy top coat!

So far I’ve only been wearing it for a full 24 hours, and except a tiny amount on one thumb it hasn’t chipped at all. I think it’s worth a mention that I am an excessive hand washer (you will probably notice my dry hands in the pics below). I will have to update in a few days to give you a full longevity report, but I suspect it’ll be looking in tact for the whole weekend (I applied it Thursday morning). I reckon if you throw on a topcoat, you could wear this baby (acceptably) for a good two weeks – which is basically how long my Jessica varnishes wear, but the main difference here is the time and effort it takes to apply it. You could put this on and be out the door, risk free, in 10-15 minutes (if even that! Possibly 5?). It’s the kinda of nail varnish you could apply before going to sleep, and wake up completely free of pillow/bed smudges. Very impressed. I love my ruby nails!

Check the pictures below (remember, this is WITHOUT a topcoat, it looks thicker in the pics than it actually is because it’s so glossy!):
