I’ve been shopping…

Yup, am officially skint as this last week I have made a few hefty purchases.. Love each and every one though!

A quick snap of me in my new fur coat. :) Lx

Pink Jeans..

I bought my first pair of pink jeans this time last year and I had never anticipated wearing (and loving!) them as much I have. They are pretty much the only pair of trousers I ever wear (I’m generally a skirt/dress girl at other times) and they are surprisingly so easy to make outfits with. I lived in them during Spring/Summer last year and the only reason I wear them out less often now is ’cause I find them tricky to pull off with my Winter footwear. I was actually having this conversation on Twitter earlier about how I think a black boot really ruins a pale pink jean – just not the right or natural match for it at all in my eyes.It was seeing Cameron Diaz snapped in this pair that made me hunt for my peachy toned pink ones last year! Definitely the best pink jeans I’ve come across on a sleb..

Anyway, I digress.. I love my current pair so much I have decided to invest in another for this Spring. In some ways I do feel like it is a little ‘so last year’ but I have a feeling that this trend is gonna still be rocking for several Summers to come so may as well embrace it seeing as I like it so much.

The two pairs I have whittled my choices down to are both from ASOS (like the original pair). I actually think this is mostly through laziness but also because ASOS seems to be the only place carrying these styles in their petite range – FAIL everywhere else!

Pastel Pink
This pair is probably my favourite.. It’s just a gorgeous pastel pink without being too chalky and sickly sweet. Really wearable, considering how light it is, and actually just another fresher alternative to wearing crisp white jeans. I should add that I have never been one to go for the South of France white denim look, but these jeans let me hang out in both camps as they do have a whiff of that look (which will definitely be a novelty for me), but are still undeniably fashion forward and ‘cool’.

Neon Pastel Pink
So undecided about this pair, I think the styling above has not helped it visually at all either. In fairness I had the same hesitations about pink jeans in general last year before I actually got round to owning my pair and realising how utterly wearable they are, so maybe that will be the case again with this pair. However I have to admit, I just don’t know how good I’m gonna look in the garish neon, almost pukey, pink colour. I genuinely can’t decide whether I think it will look fabulous or awful. I keep trying to imagine it in my head against nice tan skin, sandals and a white vest (completely opposite to how it’s been styled here), but I don’t know if I’m romanticising it and imagining how I want it to look rather than how it actually will look.

I know neon pastel is huge for SS12 and these are definitely the most on trend option of the two, but I have no idea whether it will work on me..

As you can tell I’m leaning toward the first pastel pair just for their simplicity and practicality, but part of me thinks the neon would be the smarter option for this year. What are your thoughts? And how would YOU style them?

My New York fashion with Freemans!

Ah! Only three more sleeps till I leave to go to The Big Apple, and I literally can’t wait! We’ve got a lot crammed in on our short stay, everything from sightseeing to fancy dinners, from bar hopping to gigs (ahem, Foo Fighters, anyone?), so I’ve been thinking really hard about making sure I pack appropriate stuff for all the possible occasions. I’ve pretty much done all my pre-holiday shopping (grudgingly forced myself to stop – must save it for when I actually get there!), but here are some dresses I’ve recently found on Freemans.com that would also be perfect for what I need.. Shame I just can’t buy everything. For sake of this posts’ length I limited myself to just one pick per occasion, however it was actually really tricky for me to do this as there were just so many lovely bits out there.. But I did it. Sort of.

Sightseeing..Closet Floral Dress
I found this gooooorgeous tea dress that is perfect for day time stuff as even though it’s comfy and loose, it’s ever so purdy! I adore the pleated skirt, V-line/wrap-around neck and most of the all the cut of the sleeve and shoulder. This will be perfect for running around New York in understated casual chic but also pretty enough to stop by nice places for lunch, etc. I would team it with either brogues/brothel creepers or chelsea boots and a leather jacket.

Bar-hopping!Yumi Lace Tea Dress with Peter Pan Collar
C’mon now, you know me! I think I am probably most excited about all the cool boutiquey New York bars we’ll be visiting – filled with sexy New York musician types, of course! Swoon. I’ve picked this beautiful lace babydoll dress that would look ace with huge stack platform boots or wedges, and thick tights. Coupled with lots of chunky jewellery and dishevelled hair and you’re onto a winner! I would class this dress as ‘gloth’, as it’s a cool mixture of babydoll grunge and vampish goth. Love it.

Fancy schmancy..AX Paris Embellished Maxi Dress
We’ve got a couple of fancy dinners booked in at cool hotels and stuff so I also need something that maybe isn’t as alternative as my usual attire, but still felt like ‘me’ (but perhaps more sophisticated!). I picked this maxi dress, which I feel is lovely and elegant but also dressy enough in case we meet some millionaires who fancy whisking us off to the opera or something (see, I’ve thought of everything!). The floaty maxi length layered skirt is so beautiful, and the jewelled trim throughout the neckline lends it a very dressy feel. Some high, high heels and classic jewellery is all that is needed to finish the look off.French Connection Long Sleeve V-Neck Dress
Lastly, I know I said I’d limit myself to one choice per occasion but I thought this dress deserved a mention as it is just perfection. I love the strong tailoring, especially the shoulder, but also that despite the strong cut it’s still SO chic. This dress is one of those rare dresses that would be suitable for absolutely everything, business meetings to brunch, bars to shows. Effortlessy edgy and flattering. I simply had to include this.

All of the outfits above I picked are from the dresses section as I tend to prefer dresses to separates – so much easier to pull an outfit together (well!) when you’ve got the dress sorted! And also another thing worth mentioning is that a really good thing about shopping from Freemans.com is that you can pay for you purchases in weekly instalments. The instalments start so low you’ll barely notice the money out of your account – probably cheaper than your lunch at work!

What are your thoughts on my picks?

Creeper Brogues..

Just a little update post to thank you all for your input on which bag to keep..

Check the video below to see which I went with!

As mentioned in the video, my new shoes from ASOS arrived…ASOS  MIKO Patent Leather Lace Up Creeper Brogue

They’re Creeper Brogues and are absolutely beautiful, could not be happier with them aesthetically. However what I’ve discovered after only five minutes of wear (simply around the house, no less) is that they are HARD leather. Hard but real leather, so not sure what the sitch is with that – will they soften up in time?? Or are they going to remain rock hard forever? If they are, I need to take them back as I bought them to go with all my outfits for the long, long site seeing  days I have planned ahead (for my hols) that involve lots of walking. Eek.

Other than them needing to be broken in, they are great and are going to give a lovely masculine edge to my day time New York wardrobe. I really love ill fitting, masculine clothing/footwear that has big, bulky silhouettes.  I think these shoes will also look great with slinky dresses or long sleeved body con ones, as they counteract the excess femininity and give the outfit a bit of an edge, toughening it up.

Great shoes, just need to wear them in. Suggestions on how I can wear hard leather in as quickly as possible please??

Baggage.

Ha, not the emotional kind, strictly superficial shopping kind (as to be expected)! So, help me out pleeeeaase. I needed a hand luggage/every day bag for my trip to New Yorkers in two weeks. I bought two bags from Topshop online mid week and they arrived this weekend. Now, one was always meant to go back, and judging by my first impressions when purchasing I was pretty sure I already knew which one I was going to keep, no contest. I actually ordered the other simply as an afterthought, just in case. However now they’ve both arrived, looking equally lush, I am seriously dilemma-ing (not real word, at all).
SOPHIE’S CHOICE OR WHAT?

Check the video below to see the bags (and other bits I bought), whatcha think??

Some more snaps of the bags..Both bags are doctor’s bag frame, and very spacious. I needed something that could hold A LOT, as I carry pretty much carry everything with me, every day (a pair of emergency flats, full make-up, etc, etc, etc), but which also still worked with my style and looked cool. I love the vintage old school luggage look of the brown butterfly patterned one, but adore the slouchy, classic look of the beige one. Arghhh! Which do you think goes best with my slightly grungey, dishevelled look?

I am lost. WHICH SHOULD I KEEP??!
