Bi-monthly catch up featuring REN, Aveda, Estee Lauder, MUA, Rockalily Lipsticks and.. Ukuleles!

Whilst I’m nursing a bit of sore head after an impromptu drinking session with some fellow blogger lovelies, here is a run down of my last two weeks (this is a new thing I’m going to be doing now!)..

Before all the aforementioned drinking happened, I visited Estee Lauder for the launch of their new Invisible Skin Fluid Makeup foundation..Everyone got colour matched and had a make-up artist apply the product on us; and I have to say we all looked bloody amazing! Regardless of skin type it seemed to suit everyone, and could be used with cult product Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair for a more dewy finish (for me) or without for a traditional semi-matte look. The foundation adapts to your skin colour, so there’s minimal risk of walking out with a ill fitting foundation shade regardless of how poorly colour matched you might get. Here’s a pic of me, Ree from ReallyRee and May from May Loves Makeup all with it on from when we were in the pub, after. FYI, the lipstick I’m wearing is a Sleek Pout Paint in Pinkini. Been wearing it loads this week, love it!

Earlier I previewed the slightly controversial short film for REN skin care, celebrating their 11th anniversary.. Have a gander at the clean(er) version below.

If that’s whetted your appetite (and you’re over 18!), go ahead and see the more adult one here. Tweet REN your thoughts at @Renskincare #lovecleanskin!

I also popped into the Aveda Stress Fix launch, the new body care range coming out in April for a stress free life! Bath salts that can be used as exfoliating scrubs, and scents inclusive of Lavender to calm and de-stress, ahhh.(Sorry about the rubbish picture, the lighting is appalling for picture taking at Momo’s!)

Earlier that week I had a CHEMICAL PEEL at SK;N. Haha, don’t panic, it’s the mildest one going (a glycolic peel), so no massively peely chemical face for me, thankfully. More on that to come soon!

I also went to the MUA and Love Hearts collaboration launch.Together they’re bringing out six new limited edition nail varnishes, repackaged in circular paint pots with white lids embossed with the Love Hearts logo, and six new tinted lip balms similarly repackaged. Grab one for a steal at £2!I have to say though, the real star of the show was not a new Love Hearts/MUA limited edition product, but this fantastic Professional Out There Plumping Lip Gloss in Shocking Pink available in their regular, all year long range. Isn’t the pigment AMAZING??!

My Ukulele also arrived this week.. Swoon. Ever so pretty. It’s Kala Makala Dolphin Soprano, in purple burst, re-strung for left handed playing. I popped into this lovely shop in Brick Lane called the Duke of Uke (you’ve probably heard of it if you have a passing interest in these things, it’s pretty renowned) which is like Ukulele heaven! Once I get good, I already have my sights on my next upgrade which I spotted in there..(the pink flea).

A quick update on last week before I spent most of it  useless and ill. I went to our very own blogger Zoe’s from London Lipgloss lipstick launch!! She collaborated with Rockalily Lipsticks to create her perfect lippy, named ZOMG. Here’s a very blurry camera pic of us together at the launch bash..And lastly, I bought this..My new Blackberry Playbook, 32GB. :D

Have a great weekend!

MyDaily Amazing Women EventKeeping with the charity and women theme, last week I went to the MyDaily Amazing Women event, where women who others had considered amazing were nominated on the MyDaily website. I met some fantastic women, one including Lillian Britton, who had been a foster carer for 34 years with a great number of her fostered children being autistic. It was actually really humbling meeting her, and I definitely, definitely felt an inferior person. But there were lots of incredible women at this event, not just her alone, and the whole thing was really inspiring.. The event was hosted by Dannii Minogue, hence the picture above I cheekily took of us together(!), and we had OH SO yummy afternoon tea at The Savoy – I actually ate so much I had to skip dinner, so uncouth! She is TINY, but of course I am tinier (in the shorter sense not skinny; she is way way way more skinnier than me, bitch).

Had a really lovely time, check back tomorrow for a sneaky peek at some products from the Estee Lauder Pink Ribbon collection.

The Bluest Eyes in Texas..

Those who read my post on the Autumn launches of Estee Lauder, would probably have noticed how I instantly fell in love with their eye shadow duo in Clouds – a gorgoeus, vibrant navy. I created a quick blue eye with it on that post but thought I’d run through the rest of the products I used, as a few of them are also new and worked really well with the look.

It is essentially the two products from Estee Lauder, the duo in Clouds and the liquid liner in Graphite. The Graphite liquid liner has quite a stiff nib, but this is great for getting really precise lining, and worked really well in particular with the blue. When used to line, it provided just a shot of shimmer that catches the light wonderfully, in a neat, clean way. The staying power of it is amazing, too! Maybe a little too amazing; that swatch on my hand refuses to budge even after several hand washes and some washing up! Try and avoid getting it on your lashes though as it can get a little cakey on those hairs (not nice for adding mascara onto after).

To finish off the look I used some of this new bd by Barbara Daly Eye Liner Polish in Dramatic Black, which one would suspect was a gel, but in actuality I think it’s more a cake. You have to work the brush into it a bit more than you would with a gel, but the inky black effect you get from it is just the same!

I am really adoring this pot liner at the moment, it’s cheap (around the £4 mark), isn’t messy, will last you a life time and easy to apply; it just glides on. I’ve only worn it a few times so far but I really like the staying power and noticed very minimal running or smudging, only the slightest bit of crumbling but that was tested in extreme partying conditions (we’re talking waking up with it on!). A big contender for the pricier brands!

I received some brushes from KIM a week or so ago, a foundation brush, a lip brush and this eye brush;  E131. As you can see, I’ve used the eye brush to apply this liner and it works beautifully! Really easy to get a straight line and you can even re-use it several hours later without washing – could be a combination of the pot liner and brush but either way it worked fine and didn’t go stiff with product like many other brushes would.

Finally, I just finished off the ‘blue eye’ look with mascara!
Loving all these products at the minute, really good quality.

Estee Lauder Autumn 2011 Launches..

Yesterday (well, probably techinically two days ago by the time this gets published, night owl that I am) I went to the Estee Lauder HQ to check out their new Autumn 2011 range. This is just a picture post of the products (no swatches yet, sorry, will come!) but it’s enough to get you excited..

Closer..

Bronze Dunes

Violet Orchids

Island Sands

Shells

Moons

Clouds (my fave, thus far)

Platinums

Enticing Fuchsia, Nude Affair, Nude Velvet.

Graphite (liquid liner)

As you will see in the video, they had the most amazing bright fuchsia semi-matte lipstick from the limited edition Modern Mercury collection. That, along with Clouds eye shadow duo (the navy one), are probably my favourites from the entire Autumn releases… So far!

Here I am wearing Clouds eye shadow duo and Graphite liquid liner (only other eye make-up is black liner and mascara).

The eye shadow is a deep, dark, gorgeous rich navy but that doesn’t seem to photograph – trust me it is though! The video captures the blue in Clouds perfectly, so that’s worth checking out to see the true colour. The texture of the products are lovely; the liquid liner has a nice hard nib which makes it perfect for close definition, whilst the eye shadows are lovely and pigmented – but not too creamy allowing lots of potential to build. Definitely wearing this combo at the weekend.

Btw, pulling a funny face as I have my braces in!

Check back soon for the full reviews, but what do you think so far?
