Another addition to my Filofax family – The Personal Amazona..

SNB17822

Well, what can I say.. thank you to everyone who commented on my blog post about my pocket sized Filofaxes and which to keep, in the end I sent back the Classic and kept the Chameleon – that was the majority vote, right?

What really made me decide that I shouldn’t keep both was my friend, Yinka, telling she was in the Filofax store picking up inserts and saw a gorgeous beigey crocodile print leather Filofax that was on sale half price – I immediately knew which she was talking about and yes she confirmed it was indeed the Amazona in almond. I had seen this on the website, reduced from £90 to £45. Unfortunately, it was sold out. When I was ‘researching’ Filofaxes prior that I remembered seeing a picture of a fellow Filofax addict who had them all laid out on her bed. The one that stuck out to me instantly from the collection was the almond Amazona. I googled, saw the price, and promptly forgot about it as it way out of my price range. But now there was one in store, at half price, well, it made perfect sense to send the Classic pocket back and spend a few extra dollars and purchase this one…

Isn’t it beautiful?

Worth mentioning that THIS is how the Pocket pages fit inside the Personal binder. Not so ideal, huh?

Inserts galore..

I am still very much getting used to deciding how I’m gonna use my two Filofaxes. I pretty much understand how my Chameleon Pocket is working for me, that’s fairly straight forward; it’s my ‘out and about’ Filofax. At the moment I’m just trying to make the absolute most of my Personal, and admittedly am struggling a little as it is oh so beautiful and almost too good to use. But, give me time, I’ll do a post in a while saying how I use it and hopefully soon I won’t be able to live without it. I have big plans to make it my ‘everything’ Filofax.

Here is a vid I made comparing and briefly going over the two, if you fancy having a little look..

Much love,

Filofax Porn – Help me decide!

WARNING: Picture heavy post (and please do not use any of my pictures without crediting and permission).

Oh my, they finally arrived (a FULL week later, might I add!), the suspense almost killed me but all I can say is now they’re here the wait was fully worth it. Although I have a slight problem now, whilst I initially decided (talked myself into more like) that I would have two Filofaxes, one for Summer, one for Winter, one full of everything, one for when conserving space is a priority, having them both here in my hands makes me realise two is just plain unnecessary. Trying to juggle both of these pocket sized beauties simultaneously is simply borderline ridiculous and would probably just aid my disorganisation. So.. I’m going to keep one, and invest in another either Personal size or A5 for desk/at home.

But which to keep?

It’s between The Classic, in Pink and The Chameleon, in Spring Green. Both Pocket size.

From the moment I saw them The Chameleon was without a doubt the clear favourite, but its limited ring size was a serious cause for concern. Compared to the pink Classic’s 19mm, the Chameleon only has 15mm. Eek. You can see the difference in space (and how much you can actually put in your Filofax) noticeably here.

SNB17768

The space issue really worries me as I’ve already bought a ton of accessories and inserts, such as calculator, portable hole punch, sticky post-it things, plastic envelopes with zips, etc. I know for a fact I won’t be able to put half of these (with ease!) in the Chameleon.

The black thing is the calculator from side view!

But what the Chameleon has over the Classic is its ability to lie flat straight out of the box. Also, it is far more compact, the leather is wonderfully soft, AND (and this is a biggie for me) it can totally be used as a purse/wallet as it has a full width wallet exterior (the bit alongside the ‘jacket’ of the Filofax, it slits open so you can put notes in). The Classic does not have this, and it’s far too bulky and stiff even if it did to use as a wallet. The zip (potentially for the coin section for use as wallet/purse) is also too stiff on the Classic, but in contrast lovely and soft, opening easily on the Chameleon.

I should also add that the pen loop on the Classic is on the right, near the zip, where as it’s on the left on the Chameleon. On the left works better for me as it means I have access to the zip enclosure (potential coin section area bit) that is on the right more easily without it getting in the way, plus, I’m a leftie!

The Classic does have the black ruler, which I prefer, and it’s tabs are prettier and thicker, but that’s hardly a deal breaker.

Frosted ruler and pastel tabs on The Chameleon.

So, which do you think????

I think I am going to to stick with the Chameleon in spring green as I looooove the texture of the leather and the gorgeous man finished print on it (some say they’re like little hearts, cute!). So unique, and so soft. However, I can’t escape the fact that the Classic in pink is possibly far more useful as an organiser as it has TONS more space, not a just a little, TONS.

Whilst I’m on the subject of dilemmas, I’m wondering if you could also help me out with another one (what can I say, typical indecisive Gemini here!); I am about to invest in a new laptop. I found one that’s jam packed with specs that I probably don’t need but is currently £300 off, however despite its £300 off it is still £100 over my budget. Or do I go for the one that has everything I need and is within budget? Actually, £120 LESS than the more expensive model. Input please..

Oh, and pricing point; the Classic is £60, the Chameleon is £46 (but I paid roughly the same for both from naughty Ebay and the WHSmiths sale).

Thank you in advance!
