Epilating – Have you tried it yet?

Satin Perfect HP6576 with all attachments

Hi guys, Philips have asked me to do a post on their new epilator, Philips Satin Perfect. Unfortunately, I don’t have the product in hand yet to do the review, but the deadline is this week so here’s some info about it and epilating in general – review to follow as soon as I get my mitts on it. Think of this as a teaser!

I’ve been epilating for 10 years. Yep. 10 whole years. I was never a shaving girl, through no choice of my own. I had really sensitive, eczema prone skin in my late teens/early twenties and shaving just irritated it something chronic. I had a brief flirtation with waxing but that just made my skin scar and BLEED where the actual hairs and skin were being pulled out (ouch!). Epilating was really my only option.

So, after 10 years of using my epilator (yep, the same one I bought then has still lasted me now!), I do consider myself a pro. I love the fact that only once a week I need to think about defuzzing. It takes me half an hour to do my legs, arms and bikini line (yep, I’m hardcore). Sometimes, I might do the teeny tiny stubble mid week on my legs, but that’s only if I think someone might be stroking it or else you really wouldn’t need to bother. Since my skin has cleared up and I can finally use fake tan, epilating is the best thing for hair removal without stripping the tan – trust me, when you shave you legs you’re not only shaving the hair, your shaving the entire leg including the tan. And don’t get me started on how hair removal cream and waxing could literally be marketed as fake tan remover!

The downside to epilating? Well, that it takes half an hour. I know half an hour once a week is hardly anything compared to shaving every day but I do wish it could be a quicker job. Which is why this new model by Philips is particularly interesting:

“The new Philips Satin Perfect has an extra-wide head which enables it to removes more hair in one stroke, giving you long-lasting smoothness, faster. Its high performance discs are made of textured ceramic material, which gently grip and remove even finest hairs.“

So, potentially, it could be a far quicker job. As I said, I don’t have the product yet so can’t vouch that it definitely is quicker, but as soon as I do I’ll give you a full review with the 411!

Here’s a You Tube video of Jamelia, talking about her tips for Summer. She’s also the face of Philips Satin Perfect. I don’t really like Jamelia, ever since I read somewhere that she said she had a better bum than Kylie. AS IF. And by the way, no one should sacrilege against the church of Kylie. How dare she (I blatantly have just included this vid so I could have a good bitch about her, haha). I do agree with her Summer tips though; I also use those scratchy exfoliating gloves every other day to exfoliate.

So check back for my review, and if you have any questions about exfoliating – comment away! After all, I’ve got 10 years worth of epilating experience to share!
