Well, not mine but for my friends’ wedding! I have never been to a traditional English wedding as I’m Asian (I know, weak excuse) so in the past have only gone to Asian family weddings. So I was really, really excited at the prospect of dressing up in something of my choice for once and not something my mum had forced me to wear. Thrill!
After lots of advice from friends (one of which advised, “nothing too short!”; she clearly knows me very well!) I ended up purchasing this lovely number from Topshop. Taking on my good friends’ advice, I bought it from the regular range and not the petite one thinking it might add a few extra inches of decency.
Topshop Vintage Floral Bandeau Dress, £45
I thought I did pretty well in my ‘English Wedding’ attire but a couple of my lovely friends commented it was more mafia wedding, one even went on to say, ‘Like a New Jersey housewife wedding – but that’s okay! I like that look!’. Er, cheers. I teamed it with a matching coloured clutch bag, my mothers pearls (she gave me THREE sets to choose from, rich ma) and some strappy stilettos. Okay, strappy stilettos verging on stripper shoes. Whaaaa? They were the comfiest I had! I should add here that I didn’t choose to wear lipstick with this outfit, I initially wore a natural gloss to balance my smokey eye, but I spotted a fellow ‘MAC Girl About Town’ wearer (they’re everywhere! I love it!) and she encouraged me to put some on at around 10pm. I think the outfit looked much better without. Proof I didn’t start with slutty lippy! This lippy choice goes with the outfit much better. So for my first English Wedding I think I did pretty well, the dress is so gorgeous and I hope I get lots of wear out of it in the future. However, maybe I should tone down the glamour a little next time; let’s just say there’s deffo room for improvement! You can buy this dress (although the smaller sizes are getting snapped up fast) from www.topshop.com. Lx
