It’s the count down to Christmas and I’m trying to get all the xmassy posts out in time that I feel might be of interest to you! Here are a couple of bits I got sent from No7, the Illuminated Mirror and Perfect Pedicure Set. I thought these sounded like really handy gadgets to have on or around your dressing table which most women would appreciate (as gift ideas or for yourself!).. Read on to see how I got on.
No7 Illuminated Mirror
A mirror with a ring of light around it, one side magnified by 5x, the other not. Check the video below for a closer inspection..
I have to say this isn’t my first foray into the ‘lit’ mirror concept, the current mirror on my dressing table is a Revlon one with four light bulbs, one on each corner (it’s square shaped), and it has served me amazingly well as I’ve had it for ten years now! However it is getting a little grubby and worn, and of course I’ve got a load of messy make-up stains and spills all over it, so I guess I was due a new one. I’ve been using this one from No7 for about a week now, and so far I love it! I FAR prefer it to my original Revlon one, for starters it’s metal, which means it’ll be easy to clean (my other one was white plastic), and secondly, most importantly for me, it has a really good length stand. My previous one was very short, and I actually had to balance it on top of some chunky books to get it at a comfortable height in order to sit and do my make-up at the dressing table; this on the other hand is the puuuurfect height. But if you do fall a little too short or tall for it, you can swivel the mirror around at whatever angle and it accommodates that swiftly and effortlessly! I’ve literally gone around the house plugging this in and using it at various locations and it’s perfect height and flexible at every single one!
The Ring of Light
Well, what can I say? You switch it on and the mirror is lit, helping you see what you’re doing a million times more clearer in good, strong light. I have to say, my older Revlon model was brighter, but I still prefer this model and the light works perfectly fine for what it should be used for (I suppose you could use it as lamp, if you wanted..).
Magnification
Okay, the 5x magnified bit is possibly a little tooo much magnifying and where as with my previous model I’d use the magnified side quite often, with this it’s a little too harsh so I tend to just use the regular side. Which actually has worked fine as it’s a really clear, lovely mirror. I haven’t missed using the magnified side at all. Having said that, I find the magnified side is SUPERB for when you tweeze your eyebrows or any other close up grooming – seeing every possible detail (and yes, I’m taking pores, wrinkles, uneven texture) actually is a plus in this case.
Conclusion
I love it! I much prefer it to my Revlon one, it’s more comfortable to use and does make applying my make-up a much easier task than my previous model had. I definitely recommend this and if that wasn’t enough I’ve also have noticed that it has been reduced from £49.99 to £20!!!!! So I would suggest grabbing it now before that price changes! Total bargain and I genuinely doubt you’ll find a better alternative than that for the price!

No7 Perfect Pedicure Set
I love getting pedicures, but my goodness they’re expensive, especially if it’s Winter and folk don’t even get to see your tootsies! It’s become the ultimate luxury, and I love my feet feeling all gorgeous and soft, but as I said, I seldom do it as I don’t like spending £30+ on something that not everybody is going to coo over. So I generally get one of those metal foot files, and after a shower or bath scrub/file away at my feet about once every two weeks. It works for me, my feet aren’t gross or covered in hard skin, but I totally get that it’s no way NEAR how soft and lovely it goes after a proper salon pedicure. So this set by No7, a mechanical pedicure set with several attachments, sounded AMAZE.
Check the vid below to see how it works..
I so wanted to love this. I was all geared up into thinking my feet were gonna be salon pedicure soft and I’d be able to get it like that all time at my fingertips for no extra cost, but alas, this was not the case. The first time I used this (followed all the instructions; used the pumice attachment first, then the foot file, then the buffer) my feet were actually in pretty good nick in the first place and I remembered thinking, ‘Oh, I really shoulda left them a month so they’d be really gross and hard to test this device’. However, despite my feet being okay and only having a teeny tiny bit of hard skin, this set did absolutely nothing for it. And I mean, nothing. What it comes down to is that the foot file attachments (you get two of these, one soft and one coarse) simply aren’t coarse enough! I tried both, and nothing. Hate to say it No7, but my regular non-mechanical foot file that costs a fiver does a far better job. Also, it doesn’t come with a bag so trying to keep it and all its separate attachments neatly together is a bit tricky. So yeah, I’d totally skip this if I was you.
The No7 Perfect Pedicure set is usually priced at £24.99, but like the illuminated mirror has also gone down in price to only £12.50, and you can pick that up from Boots online or in store.
