In the past I’ve been a bit of a snob towards high street shampoos. I think it was something to do with a documentary I saw probably an actual ten years ago where it stated that all high street shampoos deposited silicones in your hair, which were baaaad, and they should be avoided at all costs and in place to use a salon standard product instead. I’ve hung onto this belief quite religiously until Pantene generously took me and a few other beauty bloggers to luxurious 5* Stoke Park Spa in Buckinghamshire for a day of gorgeous treatments, yummy food and lots of prosecco!
I had an amazing time (definitely the favourite ‘event’ of the year!), but why did they take us all the way to Stoke Park Spa and why did this change my opinion on high street shampoos? Because I learnt (or they unveiled) that after vigorous blind testing against a £60 spa hair treatment, Pantene Pro-V delivered the same amount of smoothness as the £60 spa treatment. So much so, that Stoke Park Spa are now officially recommending it.
Addressing the silicone issue I mentioned above, it transpires that like the documentary I saw the formulations of high street shampoos back then were very, very old. These days the silicones used aren’t the heavy type that sit in your hair and stay there. These days they’re light and wash out with the next wash, not building up wash after wash as we had been taught to fear, dispelling the myth that high street shampoos were baaad for your hair. Well, at least not anymore, anyway.
So, want smooth hair worthy of a £60 luxury 5* spa treatment? Simply pop down to your local high street store and pick up Pantene Pro-V Smooth and Sleek Shampoo and Conditioner for just £2.19 each. I don’t think you’ll find a better mark down than that.
