I was asked by The Beauty Works if I’d like to review any of their largely electronic skin and body products. From the range offered I could have happily picked any random product blindfolded and it would have most certainly have suited a need I’m sure, but in the end after some deliberation I settled on the Skin-Lite Therapy kit. My skin had been really playing up recently, like many, as a direct result from the harsh, drying, chilly British weather. It definitely needed something, it was so sensitive I had to completely strip back everything I was currently using through fear it would worsen it. So this safe device sounded like just the ticket.
So, what is Skin-Lite Therapy? This is what the brochure said… “The Skin Lite Therapy is a hand held device which emits coloured light and is held over specific points located on the body. The light penetrates to help improve the appearance of the skin and wellbeing. It is non-evasive, safe, and painless” Now more importantly, these are the benefits of using Skin Lite:
It all sounded pretty good, I could do with lots of the above, and so began my testing of the product.
I should stress that this is a preliminary review of only the short term effects from using Skin-Lite, I will be doing a second post in about 6 months time of continued use to follow this review on. So far, I have been using this product for only three weeks. I found using this product super easy, after spending a total of five minutes to finish the brochure from front to back, I pretty much got the gist of it. There are in total 6 available options of which kind of light you would like emitted from the unit, each light serving its own purpose. I, being naturally greedy, chose all lights on at the same time (completely safe), as I thought my skin could benefit from all of them. The unit is at a default session time of 15 minutes, the recommended time, and also a default setting of medium strength. You were meant to use this treatment daily, for only 15 minutes, until your skin improved, and then move on to twice a week from that point on. The first night (for best results use in the the evening) of using this I kept the strength at its default mid setting, and proceeded to run the lens over my face, as instructed, making sure not to run it over my eyes or mouth. Picture for demonstration purposes only – do not use this treatment on a made up face! Within five minutes I could feel a pleasant tingling in my skin, and once the full 15 minutes were up my habitual constant headache that stemmed from eye strain had gone. It was amazing. I genuinely felt like it had single handedly relieved the tension and strain I held continuously above my brow bone and forehead. The second night of using this I moved the strength to max, and proceeded as the night before. Again, it really helped loosen my muscles on my face and my skin did look a little clearer and plumped after using. I used it nightly for a week in total, as by that point I had really noticed my skin had become softer (the problem dry, sensitivity had completely gone), clearer in skintone, smoother, more plumped and best of all, relaxed. It was such a pleasure to use as I could literally feel my headaches and eye strains disappear with its pleasant tingling. Another result solely from using this was the decrease of a little frown line I had seen starting to surface over the years between my brows. I’m lucky, it was never massive in the first place, but I swear since using this treatment the line has completely plumped out and has de-aged itself by about 5 years. I’ve since been using it twice a week and my skin is still good. Sometimes if my eyes/head really hurt, I use it for half an hour in a row, but apparently you can technically use this for as long as you like in one session, it’s that safe to use. Although it did help greatly with immediately relieving my tension head aches, I have to admit regarding that aspect the effect is not long term. My head aches would go only to resurface the next day sometimes even more prominent. However, the anti-aging and skin care benefits are still thankfully evidently working. As I mentioned above, I am going to be reviewing this again in six months to see whether there have been any major signs of improvement, as right now is far too early to tell. But so far, I have to admit I’m pretty impressed and will definitely keep using it! If your skin is troublesome, I genuinely think this could really help in restoring it back to its peaceful state, it really helped mine in that way. You can pick Skin-Lite Therapy up from The Beauty Works for around £50. Lx
