Yull shoes size 2.5 are here!

Eek! They’ve arrived!!! My Yull shoes in size 2.5!!!!!! These are from the SS12 collection and are called Cheltenham*..

For those who don’t remember my previous posts on Yull, they’ve just recently bought out their collection in size 2.5 after discovering so  many small footed ladies out there whose feet were simply too tiny for a UK size 3! So here is their first 2.5.. And it fits so well! Actually a little too snug but as it’s such a lovely leather is will stretch out and mold around my foot after a wear or two. A great heel height, really practical but still chic, not to mention the actual design which is wonderfully classic and will go with so much. I haven’t worn them out yet as I don’t want to ruin them in the nasty rainy weather we’ve had, but as soon as the weather is more stable, they’re coming on so expect an outfit post then!

Check out the rest of the Yull collection here, size 2.5 and up!

Yulls Shoes SS12 Collection (and a very special video)

You guys all remember Yull, yes? A quaint British shoe brand that is all about classic style over fashion? Well, about a month ago I visited the Yull factory to see how a typical Yull shoe would be made! It was actually a very eye opening experience as I had no idea just how much work went into making one pair – when I heard the term Factory I had envisioned a conveyor belt type system with lots of people doing one repetitive soul less thing each, nothing quite like what actually happens there. I had never expected so much attention, care and workmanship to be put into each pair of shoes..

Did you like that video?? I made it all by myself *pauses for praise*, special thanks to Kerry Bolland for making the music! Here’s the full Spring Summer 2012 range (you saw a shoe or two in the video being made from this collection). I think the collection is meant to be available from March however I’ve had a quick look at the website and they’ve already listed the new bits in the shop! How exciting..

ATTENTION: PETITE FEET LADIES!
Also, available from March are shoe size 2.5!! This is HUGE news for us small footed ladies who find a size 3 just too big! I should be getting my very own pair of size 2.5 Yull shoes soon, so will definitely post about that when it arrives. I am so excited to finally have a pair of shoes that FIT. No more insoles, thick socks or padding, or simply falling over because my shoes jangle around my feet dangerously (or so I hope! Knowing me this could still happen). Chances are once I discover how comfy and easy wearing a pair of shoes that fit are I may never wear a different pair of shoes ever again!

What do you think of the new collection? Any favourites?

Shoes, Jacket, Rings and Tings..

Jacket
I’ve been desperate for an old man’s chequered blazer for so long, ideally in brown, made from tweed or some other heavy fabric, with elbow patches and huge boxy shoulders.. Well, despite searching high and low there were none to be found that had that real vintage look I craved, until I spied this one from River Island. It wasn’t brown, admittedly, and didn’t have the elbow patches, but it was chequered and in heavy material with big boxy shoulders. Semi-perf. I got the size 8 as even though the 6 fitted fine, I really wanted it to look boyfriend-esque on me with the option of wearing it over jumpers, etc, so it had to be the 8. A few people have commented that the jacket is far too big for me but they clearly don’t understand the look I’m going for (heh)! I really like the big boxy shoulders on me, that was one of the key things I was looking for. I wanted it to look like a hand-me-down from my dad/grandad, something genuinely owned by a man prior.I prefer it with the sleeves rolled up and pushed up towards my elbows, however they never stay up! I am forever pushing them back up which is getting really annoying – any tricks to keeping them in place that I’m missing?? Talking of elbows, thinking of also adding some elbow patches, maybe black leather or possibly corduroy.. Again, any suggestions on how to do this?

Rings
Discovered this kitch jewellery place called Chelsea Doll the other day when a friend of mine had posted an item of theirs on her Facebook page to enter their ‘Tag It Tuesday’ comp – a really clever idea as it buys loads of exposure to the brand and clearly works as after browsing the site I left purchasing several rings!

I had been after a shield ring for ages, and whilst not really feeling the ones in Topshop was just going to pick some up from there regardless (you usually can’t go wrong with Toppers). However since spotting the more unusual designs on Chelsea Doll decided that they were a much better fit for me – who wants the same ring everybody else has?

The rings I received were the Snow Leopard Family Double ring, Antique Armour Full-finger ring, and the Statement Tribal Sheild ring. The two shield rings definitely feel like substantial pieces of jewellery, but I felt the Snow Leapard ring (double cat ring) was quite flimsy in comparison, mostly because of the way it can be resized – however you don’t notice this once they’re all on together. Still playing around with variations on how to wear them (the two shield rings throw me a little!) but I definitely get the look I wanted from them. *The other oval ring worn not from Chelsea Doll is one my mum bought me from Saudi.

Shoes
Shoes of interest: Yull Shoes are bringing out a shoe called Shelter, with 10% of all proceeds going to the charity Shelter to help the homeless over Christmas. A really lovely idea and the shoes are classically gorgeous, as all Yull Shoes are…And for all my fellow 2.5ers!  Sarah, their Creative Director, has assured me that all Yull Shoes will soon be available in our diddy size!!! Amaze! They’re thinking as soon as November/December time and I will personally be going down to the factory to check them out the minute they’re ready so expect a detailed report here first!

Yull Shoes & the LinaLast!

SNB10792

I was invited down to Yull HQ in Hoxton yesterday for an afternoon of tea, cakes, and pretty, pretty shoes…

Yull are a British shoe brand and their ethos is ‘Style over Fashion’. Their designs are classic fashion footwear that’s ideal for all English sporting and cultural events. They’re so quintessentially English, they even have union jacks printed on the sole of every pair! Learn more about the brand here.

It was a really fun afternoon, Sarah Watkinson-Yull, the brand creator and shoe designer, had all the current styles out in size 3 ready for me to try on and have a play with. Unfortunately, as my feet are really size 2.5 they were a little big, but I’ll discuss later how we’ve hatched a plan to overcome this problem in the future! It’s very exciting. But for now.. onto the shoes.

I know it’s hard to tell how comfy shoes really are when you’re only wearing them for a few minutes each, but they really did feel like the comfiest things ever. I think I actually even commented that some of the kitten heels were as comfy as wearing my slippers!

And here’s a sneaky peek of what we have to look forward to for Autumn/Winter..

So what’s the LinaLast?

Well, a ‘last’ is the foot shaped mold used to make shoes fit to certain sizes, typically you’d have one last of every size you stock so all your shoes are sized and built around that measurement.

Sarah has offered to do a really amazing thing for me. Hearing about my troubles with finding shoes that fit and witnessing for herself how difficult it was, she offered to have a last made with my foot measurements!!! I will, for the first time in my life, have shoes made to fit perfectly as all size 2.5’s from Yull will be made using my foot measurements!!!

I cannot stress how this has made my year. Seriously. The shoes are all so beautiful I could quite happily just live in Yull shoes forever. And to top it off, she’s even going to call the last the LinaLast. I am ridiculously excited about this. Who wouldn’t be?

As I’m sure you can imagine, Make Up to Make Out is going to be following Yull very closely in the future, and I’m so excited at the prospect of being so actively involved with them.
