Wowee! Just got this gorgeous Boots No7 limited edition compact that is part of their limited edition Xmas range! Sooo beautiful.. read on to see how it wears!
This is their Highlighter Compact, and it does look beautiful in its luxurious gold casing which opens to show the rich texture of the product within. By initially looking at it you’ll notice a few various colours within the compact, like lilac/powder blue, red and green, however they are only decorative and brush off after the first use, the colour it gives is simply gold.
Application
I’ve simply swiped this on with a soft large brush on top of my foundation; concentrating predominiantly around my cheekbones, and then a little around my forehead and a little across the bridge of my nose. Much like a bronzer, you apply to those areas that catch the light. You can also use this across your shoulders and on your décolletage, and although I haven’t tried it on those areas I suspect it would look beautiful and would suit those areas perfectly.
Ordinarily, I probably wouldn’t use this product on its own, I would probably use it on top of my full make-up as a finishing product; so I would most likely use a blusher before and so on. I wouldn’t class this as shimmer blusher like Benefits Coralista or Bobbi Browns Shimmer Bricks, just as a highlighter to finish your make-up. For review purposes I wanted to showcase the product solely so didn’t apply any other make-up other than foundation, so please bear this mind with the pics!
Verdict
It is pretty, although I must warn you it’s VERY glittery, and the glitter is slightly chunky so application can be difficult if you’re not careful! A light touch is all that is needed, a too heavy hand will leave you and your clothes drenched in large particles of shimmer. Definitely a product that will be lovely for the festive period and parties ongoing after, but not really an everyday product for me, or even a day product – the shimmer is far too strong, but for evening – perfect party glamour!
Below is with the product lightly applied, it just gives a subtle all over shimmer.
