I have to admit, this eyeliner is tricky to apply. Having bought it mainly to do 70′s style cat flicks (remember how they were all the rage last year?). I was finding the brush rather useless. It’s small and fairly rigid, due to the quick setting nature of the eyeliner, and very possibly the worst eyeliner brush I’ve come across yet. After much practice, and several cotton buds later, I felt I could just about get both eyes looking even with smooth fluid lines. I’m not gonna lie to you though, those first few attempts of getting ready to go out with this probably added a good half hour to my time in full. Because it set so quickly and the brush was so small, it was hard to work with if you wanted a nice thick line.
However, once it was on, it looked lovely. A really beautiful, intense, jet black, and best of all, it never smudged or ran. This is because it setted, almost caked a little. You definitely could feel hard product if you ran your fingers gently across the area applied, but it wasn’t uncomfortable or icky, it was actually quite reassuring as you knew it was set in place and not going anywhere! I must warn you though, if you’re pulling all nighters this baby will eventually start to flake off, but it’ll either do that or it’ll stay in place, no gross smudges inbetween or anything. Another great thing about this product, if you dare, you can use it along the waterline! It will last and last and last.. I did that aplenty. As Bourjois is linked to Chanel, I certainly noticed some similarities with this product and Chanels liquid brush eyeliner, obviously theirs is a lot more luxurious, with a better brush and better quality formulation, however theirs also had the same cake setting quality this eyeliner had about it, just in a nicer, less harsh, better way.

As with lots of great (and some disastrous) finds, I bought Bourgois Liner Clubbing liquid eyeliner because it was on offer in the local Superdrugs or Boots, I think it was £2 off or something. Having forked out £20 on a Yves Saint Laurent liquid eyeliner that transpired to be utter crap (I will write a review of that soon!), I was hesitant about buying another designer liquid eyeliner so soon, so gave this little minx a shot.
As I mention a lot, Bourjois is the sister company to Chanel, and I knew for a fact the Chanel liquid eyeliner was fantastic, so thought I’d try this one hoping it’d bear some resemblance, I wasn’t disappointed.
Bourjois launched this product as part of their clubbing range – it was designed to last through a heavy, long, sweaty night in a club. That sounded perfect for me. My main fear, with any eyeliner but especially liquid, is that it smudges and runs. Hmmm, nice. I needed something that would stand the test of time, I honestly can’t be dealing with having to rub under my eyes all the times to remove any possible residue.

Verdict
Here is the Bourjois Liner Clubbing on the bottom, compared to Mac Kohl Smoulder and Benefit Bad Gal Waterproof (sorry I should have compared it with other liquid liners, but I was simply trying to demonstrate its intense colour, and you can see that clearly here).
I’ve since repurchased this liquid eyeliner twice, it’s serves my purpose of long lasting intense black ‘flicks’ fine, and although I would rather an easier to use brush, I’ve gotten used to it now. For £7, you can’t really complain! It gets my approval!
Here are some pics of me rocking this eyeliner!
