Bourjois So Delicate Lip Cream!

Recently I’ve found myself switching my lip glosses for matt-er lipsticks. I guess with most things, I felt lip glosses are quite dated now and wanted to add a more sophisticated edge to my make up with a matte mouth. The only problem with this is matte lipsticks aren’t great. The ones I’ve been trying were drying, heavy, uncomfortable and short lasting. I’d put it on, pat it down with my finger (as it was too lipsticky otherwise), and one drink later I was back to square one but with dryer lips this time.

So imagine my joy when I came across Bourjois So Delicate Lip Cream, a product that claimed to be a light, long wearing, velvet-matte finish cream-stain. Apparently, you could get 8 hours of wear out of this baby, with your lips feeling moisturised and smooth the whole time through. Wowser.

Even though it wasn’t an entirely new concept (it sounded very similar to Nars Lip Stain Gloss), for high street it was pretty damn impressive. So obviously, me being obsessive, I bought two at the same time, in different shades.
The colours I picked up were the two lightest out of the five shade range, a pale dusky pink (Rose Poudre #51), and a warm neutral brown (Rose Valoute #53). Both light colours that I thought would compliment my usual make-up of smokey eyes well.

Application
I found this cream easy to apply, it comes with a foam applicator wand that glides over your lips effortlessly, like you would apply a lip gloss. Being a cream, an incredibly light one at that, you could barely feel anything on your lips, almost like it was air whipped. It sat on the surface, but in a good way. I would apply it with the wand on the bottom lip, then rub my lips together and then blend/pat it out with my finger to soften the line. However, you could easily use the applicator on both lips if you wanted a stronger, defined line. I didn’t. I wanted a natural (ish!) wash of matte colour.
Once it was on, you could barely feel it at all, although it wasn’t quite the same as having a slick of vaseline on your lips! But it certainly wasn’t uncomfortable in the slightest. For a matte product, my lips felt fine, smooth, supple and most importantly, not dried out. I won’t lie to you, after a whole day and night of wearing it my lips did start to feel a little dry and ever so slightly flakey, but honestly, my lips are prone to that anyway and do that a hundreds times worse with any other product – including lip glosses! So this was actually an improvement for lip products on me!
Verdict
Well, as you can probably tell, I’m a huge fan of Bourjois So Delicate Lip Cream! It is the only lip product I carry in my everyday make-up bag now, and that’s saying something! Both colours I picked look great, it is often hard deciding which to wear! As for the 8 hour wear, well, not quite. But certainly a damn sight longer lasting than any of my other lipsticks/glosses/creams, save the stains. I’d say it’d last a few good hours before you need to re-apply. As for re-applying, it’s better to take it AAAALL off, then to just add. Maybe a little lip balm in between wouldn’t hurt? It doesn’t effect the setting power of this product at all, which I was pleased to discover.

So, for about £8 each, I think these lip creams are well worth it. I sneakily bought mine on offer for £5 each when they first came out, super pleased with that! Go for it!
