I was sent a set of clip-in hair extensions by a brand called Halo. I had never actually heard of the brand prior, but since I’ve only ever used Love Hair Extensions I decided it was definitely worth checking out what else there was on the market.
I chose the 20” Jet Black Natural Hair set, and each set has a whopping 8 pieces included within it – 4 of which are the substantial larger ones, the rest are small ones that you can pretty much place anywhere at random (handy!).
Despite having a sensitive head (yes, I even used to find it painful when my mum would try to brush my hair as a child!), because these wefts were generally smaller than the others I’ve tried, I found them quite comfortable once on. However, it sometimes can get a little tricky trying to put them in and finding a spot where it doesn’t hurt (the trick is to make the parting as clean as you can; those pesky stray hairs getting caught mid way in the clips is ow ow ow!).
I’ve slept in them, partied in them, and even gone to the beach in them (I don’t advise this). Everyone’s hair reacts differently to the beach, and these extensions reacted completely differently to how my hair reacts, thus looking completely fake. Not pretty. But generally, it’s really easy to blend them in naturally with the rest of your hair when facing regular everyday elements.
I’m rocking two-tone hair at the mo (mahooosive roots) but these jet black clip-ins strangely really work! They make my roots look good, making me very reluctant to get them re-done!
Overall, I really like this set; although I wish the clamps were a little smaller and needed less hair to ‘grip’, but I’ve yet to find this in any set of clip-ins. The hair is silky and gorgeous, and the variety of sizes available per pack means you have everything you need to get going.
Being natural hair, this means you can wash and style them just as you would normal hair! So look after them and they should last you a while..
