I was fortunate enough to attend the really lovely bloggers event held by Bourjois on Saturday. We were led there under the premise of cakes and champagne, but really all they would have had to have said to make me come running was simply ‘Bourjois’!
The SS10 collection by Bourjois featured soft brights as opposed to pastels. Instead of the 80’s glamour we’ve gotten used to in the past regarding make-up trends, this season is all about softer, 70’s glamour. Not necessarily heavy liquid liner, but more soft glossy red/coral lips, metallic eyeliner and semi matte skin. Nothing hard or too heavily emphasised, the look you should be aiming for is as if the camera is blurred slightly and in soft focus – well, that’s my interpretation of it, anyway!
Celebrity Make-up Artist Cassie Lomas (a favourite of Lady Gaga’s!) demonstrated the collection with tips on application and how to wear these shades for the coming season.
Here she is demonstrating it on Giorge, Bourjois’ press girl.
She also did my make-up! But not with the new Spring shades, just with a selection of other Bourjois products (that Bourjois kindly let us greedy bloggers help ourselves too!)(I was blatantly the greediest).
The Spring range consists of two eye shadows (a gorgeous taupe/bronze, Tabac Blond, and a pale golden yellow shade, Citron Givré), a pearly golden pink blusher (Coup de Foudre), a coral lipstick (Juicy Tangerine), a metallic lime green eye pencil (Tilleul Doré) and a vibrant coral nail varnish (Tangerine Fatal). They also have bought out a new foundation, Healthy Mix, and a new concealer of the same range, as well as a new mascara, Volume Glamour Ultra Care, as well as three new blushers (alongside the one Spring shade).
I’ve noticed recently a real rise in skin friendly and ‘good for you’ products, with no exception from Bourjois. Their Healthy Mix foundation and concealer range is a medium to full coverage, semi matte product that is also packed with nourishing and protecting ingredients; so your skin doesn’t have to suffer any further if you are dealing with troublesome skin. You can cover it up AND let it benefit from all the ingredients packed within the cosmetics.
Their Volume Glamour Ultra Care Mascara is a similar thing. For the first time ever you can wear a mascara that provides show stopping volume and length, while also treating your lashes and caring for them as a treatment product. Finally, we can wave good bye to dry, dehydrated lashes without compromising our beauty regime!
Instead of giving us a goody bag, they allowed us to just pick up what we wanted, which worked as a brilliant idea as it allowed us to actually leave with the correct colour foundation! Unfortunately, there were some products not available yet such as the lipsticks, but you can see from the picture above with Giorge the coral Spring lipstick shade.
Here is what I took that is from their new Spring collection.
I will do a full review of their newest foundation, Healthy Mix, at a later date once I’ve worn it a few more times but until then, here it is just worn on its own.
I wore it for the whole evening and my ever so sensitive skin wasn’t irritated in the slightest. I actually noticed it felt better on my skin the longer I wore it! It was a tiny bit too pale (this looks more noticeable on the pics below because of the flash), so I can either mix it in with a darker shade or just use some bronzer. Although, it doesn’t look this pale in the flesh, only in the pics.
Here I am with the rest of the collection on!
The lipstick I’m wearing is Bourjois, but not part of the new Spring collection. I used the green Duo Chrome Eye Liner on the inner corners of the eyes, like Cassie had demonstrated. A tip I will definitely continue to use, it opens the eyes up really prettily without being too severe.
I had such a lovely day with Bourjois, and adore their new Spring collection. I’m particularly impressed with the Healthy Mix foundation, the eye shadow (93 Tabac Blonde) and can’t wait to try the lipsticks and nail varnishes properly! Thanks for having us, Bourjois!
