Breaking in the creeper brogues..

Well, for those that were massively engrossed with my creeper brogue shoe dilemma (should I keep them? Should I send them back? Will I be able to stretch them out in time.. You’d be mad not be engrossed, no?), here’s what I did.

I found this blog post by The Dandy Project where he rather cleverly modernised an old Filipino ‘wives tale’ for stretching out hard leather shoes. It involved petroleum jelly, a curling iron, and the potential ruin of your new REAL LEATHER shoes.

Unsurprisingly, regardless of how effective it looked I was scared to try it out. But after one day of them rubbing my poor feet to death (we’re talking bleeding, ow!), I decided I had no choice but to give it ago.

So, um, it worked? Who’d of funk it!
(sorry video is so dark)

Unfortunately, whilst the stretching technique worked, the damage from the initial wear had already been done. I couldn’t wear them at all during the actual trip to new yorkers as anything slightly touching against the irritated area hurt too much. Boo. But now the skin has healed, I can wear them relatively comfortably. Hooray!
