Jemma Kidd Powder Blush Duo in 02 Clear Pink/Rose

I was sent some Jemma Kidd products a while back to test, and amongst the black rubber packaged goodies was this Powder Blush duo in Clear Pink/Rose. For years I never went anywhere near a powder blusher, I always favoured creams as I tend to go for more fresh, dewy make-up and find powders can be a little severe and dated, however! Since having and using this particular powder product, I have actually re-thought my initial opinion and am now a powder blusher convert! ..For this product, anyway!

Application
Interestingly, as I mentioned above the compact is cased in black rubber. So yes, it’s not as sleek looking as some people might choose but it’s about a million percent more practical – the rubber will break the fall of any nasty smashes if you accidently drop it and also makes the compact easy to grip onto and open with greasy make-up fingers!

You get two blushers as it’s a duo, one side is a pink, the other a beigey sand shade with subtle iridescent shimmer added. You can wear both together, the pink on the cheeks and the beige shimmer above the cheek bone, or you can wear them both separately. I found the pink shade worked great on the apples of the cheeks, which is the fleshiest part of the cheek, and also slightly below the cheekbone for contouring.

Verdict
I love the pink shade of this duo and find it’s perfect for giving my cheeks a nice even pop of colour. You can build the colour depth incredibly easily or you can apply it lightly for more natural finishes. It blends brilliantly over everything (the most blendable powder blusher I have ever come across – anyone could use this!), even on top of liquid foundation that hasn’t been powdered on top of; I’d actually say I’d prefer it that way on my skin! I specifically liked how it didn’t make my cheeks look matte and if worn with dewy foundation complimented the dewy effect despite the fact that it is after all a powder product.
The lighter shade of the duo didn’t work as well for me, I found the texture slightly more powdery and it settled a little on my dry skin. If worn above the pink it would cake on the edges that met the pink, and on it’s own it just felt a little dry and poorly pigmented on my Asian skin. Also the shimmer wasn’t strong enough for a high lighter.

the pink shade
Overall, this is a great product as the pink side alone makes it well worth the investment (around £17 in the UK, fairly decent price I think). Also if you have paler skin the other shade may even actually be more workable for you, it just didn’t work with my particular skin tone. It lasted a good amount of time on, I can’t remember ever having to top up my cheeks when worn out and just generally I really like the shade of pink it gave, like a deep natural pink, a gorgeous flush. I can’t stress enough that it’s really easy to work with, blends beautifully and looks perfect with minimal effort. Almost a cross between the effect of a cream blusher with the coverage of a powder. Definitely my favourite powder blusher as yet, simply for how effortless it is to apply and blend! Gives you a polished finished look to your make-up in no time at all!

What do you guys think?
