Nair Exfoliating Hair Removal Cream

Considering I’ve just done a post on a self tanner, this is a good opportunity to review Nair Exfoliating Hair Removal Cream, as I mentioned the merits of using a hair removal cream prior to applying fake tan in the previous review.

I converted to hair removal creams for my legs a few years ago, and have tried Veet as well as this. My skin is too sensitive to shave everyday so I find these products are great  for the tops of your legs (I epilate the bottom half of my legs) as they keep them smooth for aaaages and the re-growth is much finer.

This particular product is a new product from the Nair range, and it claims to keeps your legs smooth for up to 7 days..

Application
This comes in pleasingly pink packaging, where you can see the product in the partially transparent squeezy bottle. As with most hair removal creams, it is very thick and doesn’t smell particularly nice. You apply a thick layer on your legs, without rubbing in, then leave it for a few minutes and then wipe and wash off. With this product it says it works in three minutes, but I always leave it a few minutes extra just to make sure it works properly.

(Sorry the product is fetchingly half used!)

Once my time is up (with a stop watch! Do not guess the times) I take shower and remove it. That’s it! The whole procedure done in only a few minutes!

Verdict
As a hair removal product, this is brilliant! My legs were left smooth and hair free, and honestly, you just can’t get this kind of baby skin softness with any other form of hair removing – definitely not shaving! It exfoliates incredibly well, better than any other exfoliater I’ve used, and I just love the way my skin feels straight after using.

However, in comparison to other hair removal creams – is it better? Well, it’s certainly stronger, my legs come out a little more pinker than they do when I use my Veet product and it does feel a little bit harsher, but not so much to fully irritate my skin. When applying it it does smells worse than my Veet, so so far Veet is winning. But does the smoothness last for 7 days? Hmmm… well, it is incredibly smooth for a good few days at least, and then only starts to noticeably stubble after about four or five I’d say. It does probably stay smoother for longer than my Veet, but only marginally.

How this product excels is that usually I can only use hair removal cream once every two weeks, as it isn’t effective enough if I use it weekly. This is normally fine as the re-growth is very fine. But with this Nair product I could definitely use it on a weekly basis, and feel I was getting exceptionally smooth legs with every use, and that’s definitely more convenient than with my Veet! Also, for gals who choose to use hair removal cream on their bikini line, this is the ticket over Veet! Needless to say, just be careful – I wouldn’t advise a playboy!

But in future I think I’ll probably be sticking with my Veet for general use as it’s milder but almost equally effective, you get WAY more in a bottle (the Nair runs out after about three/four applications), and it smells much nicer. However I think it’ll be definitely worth my while to keep a bottle of this in the bathroom cabinet for certain occasions inbetween Veet uses!
