I was sent this nail varnish by Pixi a while back, and as it’s not really the sort of colour I would ordinarily go for I had really procrastinated in reviewing it. However I finally got round to painting my digits with it and yes, it’s still not my kinda shade; having darker, yellow tone skin this pale pearly pink isn’t naturally the best accompaniment, but for gals with paler Caucasian skin this could be right up your street.
I really like the brand Pixi, all of the products I’ve tried of theirs have been of a certain standard and I’ve always ended up loving them. I love their philosophy of quirky but good quality make-up that is fairly reasonably priced (well, not completely unreasonably, anyway). I’ve only tried one nail varnish of theirs prior and it was a neon fluoro pink (No.13) which I LOVED and used up completely, and this varnish in texture and application was pretty much the same. Went on fairly smoothly (being pearlescent you’d expect it to be tricky and streaky but it was actually quite easy and consistent) and although not the fastest drying varnish out there, once on it did last a good few days before the chip set in.
I applied about 2-3 coats, in hindsight I’d expect most to only really apply one or two max as it’s meant to be a subtle shade, but I kinda got carried away so the colour probably looks stronger and milkier than most would wear it. This just means that you can get a pretty subtle wash of colour tinting your nails, OR you can do what I did and coat it on!
Verdict
All in all, great nail varnish formula from a trusted good quality brand, and the shade is okay but not really something I would wear personally – but I can imagine so many others who would and I’m sure it’d look great on them!
